i'm a tracy supporter, but i have to admit his behavior and how handles his knee injury have been extremely porous. the team has every right to be frustrated with him. but i simply cannot ignore tracy's game when he feels fine. he is still our most dynamic player and one that can elevate this team, esp. with this kind of talent on our team.
i guess i would be called a hater i do believe he can fix it if he mans up and turns it around and I really want him to but given his past I dont think he will. and for all those bickering about the numerous "lay of off tmac" and "oooh I hate him soooo much" threads I have this to say..... uhm what else are we supposed to do when the next game is saturday? lighten up folks its just a bbs after all some people feel like the stuff posted on here about the players, good or bad, are personal attacks on themselves because they may have a dissenting opinion than someone else
I'm tired of the T-Mac saga that is going on, but as long as he is a member of this team, I will support him and hope for the best. I am no hater, and I am no apologist. T-Mac can and has done wrong; however, as long as that logo is on his jersey I will cheer for him and hope that he comes back better than ever.
He's run out of chances as far as I'm concerned. I maintain that he is one of the most TALENTED players in the history of the game. Too bad he's a damn space-cadet most of the time.
Come on DD, you can do better. (Unless this is some CarlHerrera-style Sarcastic poll). I abstain. I am a Rocket fan, not a "hater" or an "apologist."
Yes! His style of play, his attitude and his personal drive to lay it all on the line when times are tough. I was never much impressed with his scoring champ titles when added to a last place team, but I did give him a pass even though I didn't like him as a player. I just doesn't take long to see thru him and see what truly makes him tick. "Walk softly but carry a big stick." "Say what you mean and mean what you say." "Close the mouth and open the ears, you'll learn more that way." Tracy seems to be the opposite of these sayings.
Do you believe basketball is not tainted? Do you not think that basketball players do whatever they can do to get a edge on other players? What about the refs and the betting scandals. If there's big money and competition, players will do whatever think they can do too win. But Tracy has the best team he's ever been on and didn't work hard enough in the off season. Poor guy if only he would do whatever it takes to push his team, but he doesn't, he brings them down.
I was just questioning whether steriods was part of hard work and I believe basketball is probably one of the least tainted sport. Unless someone has developed some kind of silly putty that you can put under your shoes that allow you to jump higher. Definitely Lebron used it for sure.
Anyone who tries to break down the TMAC situation with a grain of objectivity is automatically labeled a TMAC apologist. What a joke.
It is exactly that.....sort of a laugh at each other and the silly arguments we are having over and over. Exactly the point of the poll....no one is a hater or apologist......did you read the opening post? DD
Right cuz people only btich about Tmac. No one has every called Rafer Brick to my Lou. No one has ever called Yao, tofu and the big liability. No one has ever slammed Battier for not having an offensive game and the whole Rudy Gay thing. Luther Head gets nothing but praise for his solid PG play. No one b****es about Chuck Hayes and his layups and free throws You are right, it must only be Tmac that people here b**** about.
I think T-mac still has great potential to help us win playoff games and bring a championship to Houston. I do think he has mental issues, is basically a good guy, but has a questionable work-ethic. I think the verdict is still out on the guy though...and I'm going to take a wait and see approach. I think without him, we don't have a shot at a ring, and yet we need him to play differently than he has been. So am I an apologist or a hater?
why would I be joking? Alston is freaking tretcherous. I don't care how hard he plays.....it doesn't mean he doesnt suck. so you've never seen Kobe v. Suns playoff? he basically quit at halftime.
I have soured on TMac. He was once my favorite player in the NBA, when he was at Orlando. DWade has taken his place. Since coming to Houston I have witnessed his off the charts skill set, but I have also observed his laziness. I think he has mental issues and obviously he has physical problems. I don't know if he can come back to the high level of play he was once capable of. I doubt it. I think that the TMac/Yao era is essentially over. I believe Les is beating a dead horse and should move on to plan B. However, with TMac's contract situation as it is, options are limited. I think a buy out/retirement package might be possible. Frankly, I don't think TMac wants to play basketball anymore. He says he does, but IMO, he doesn't.
who coined the term apologist anyway? im a big tmac fan but i wouldnt apologize for him if he did something wrong (like drive drunk, punching teammates, domestic abuses, etc) but i would give him the benefit of the doubt for his actions on the basketball court. nobody knows what it's like to be in tmac's position (by extension, arenas, boozer, etc.) since we dont know what's really going on. take me for example. my friggin back hurts. it's the same symptoms i had 2 yrs back when i had kidney stones. but all the results and the doctors say everything's normal. but i keep telling them, my friggin back hurts! so would you believe the doctor over me?
apol·o·gy Pronunciation:\ə-ˈpä-lə-jē\ Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural apol·o·gies Etymology: Middle French or Late Latin; Middle French apologie, from Late Latin apologia, from Greek, from apo- + logos speech — more at legend Date:1533 1 a: a formal justification : defense b: excuse 2a2: an admission of error or discourtesy accompanied by an expression of regret
i was asking who, ON THIS BOARD, started using the term apologist. im a fan, but i wouldnt apologize for a guy if he was way out of line. i would defend a player/person and give him the benefit of the doubt since all we have are speculations.
