I don't think anyone really "hates" the guy..most just want him to do what he says...and to play hard... DD
At least that would keep the thread count down. I donr care who plays for the rox. I would trade anyone if I thought it made my team better. So if that's apologizing, then cool.
I think the apologists should be doing their apologizing to all the Rockets fans they unjustly vilified with their labels.
i dont hate tmac as a person. i dont even know the guy. i dont even hate him as a player. he's been awesome, and fun to watch so many years. injuries, and miles on his body have taken a toll. happens to everyone. i hate that he's been lazy about rehab and conditioning. i hate his flakey approach to weather or not he'll play. at the end of the day, i only care about the rockets as a team and he is not good for them anymore. therefore, i want him off.
I would have made one already but I wouldn't have much to add to it so it would probably come off as preachy and no one would use it. Someone who's into the drama should make it. *cough* DD *cough*
I REALLY don't care what he does on his own time. Whatever he does with animals and crossdressers and terrorists is his own business... ONE EXPECTATION for a player - PREPAREDNESS keep your body in shape. Dont even have to add skills so much, just don't physically decline into couch potato World Hot Dog Eating Contest condition. That makes me a McGrady hater. (And a hater of 20% of the league that does this...)
Agreed, that is one reason why they get paid the big money - prepare mentally and physically. He has sat back in both areas this year no doubt. I don't know about all the behind the scenes stuff but you don't have to - you can see it on the court. For the Rockets sake I hope he can turn it around for the playoffs.
Neither...I'm a Rockets fan who hopes he starts playing well...but who recognizes he needs to get it together quick, because he's hurting us.
See? this is the difference between this poll and In N Out menu. They have SECRET choices not known by the outsiders. Someone told me that he thought "animal style fries" were potatoes cut into animal shapes. No, animal style means you eat like an animal because the melted cheese and onion sticking on the fries taste too damned good.
I don't want him gone, I want him on board, contributing, working hard, playing the team game, and making the team better, if he doesn't want to do those things THEN I want him gone. DD
I've been a hater since before he came to Houston. Sure since he plays for us I root for him, but I have never liked him or his style of play. I'm sure you can only imagine how much I dislike the guy now if I have hated him from the get go...... Pugs
I think t-mac brings some of the criticism on himself but he's also more maligned then he should be. he's a great player who is clearly hurt but may be more mentally fragile than he should be. I think that people have forgotten what he's done with significantly undermanned teams throughout his career. yes he's never won a playoff series, but he's done a whale of a job with what he's had to work with. I can understand being frustrated with him right now, cause I am, but let's not get stupid. I'm of the opinion that he should get a chance to sit out for a few weeks then lets see what he's got. we can't win a championship without him and considering he carried this team to a freaking 22-game win streak less than a year ago, he deserves a shot at redemption. he's been one of the best players in the league up until this season and that's simply not possible if you're dogging it in the offseason or in practice. Up until right now have we ever heard about him slacking off as a Houston Rocket?
BigM, I give absoulely zero credence to what he "has" done...who cares? It is what he "IS" or rather what he "Isn't" doing to earn his pay this season. I can happily look back at the dunk over Bradley or the 13 in 35 and go "Wow".... But this is a "NOW" league...and right now, he is getting owned by players that are well below all star level. And, what really got me turned on the guy, was him quitting on the team in Toronto and saying he needed "more touches"....a good player does not blame his teamates for being out of shape, and a lack of personal effort. I would respect Tmac a lot more if he came out and apologized to the organization, his teamates and the fans for his play to date....THAT is what I think he should do. Followed up by him taking whatever role the team gives him, and playing with major fire and passion. DD
Couldn't have said it better myself! I very rarely talk bad about Rocket players. I supported Bryce Drew, Sam Mack, Michael Dickerson, The Round Mound of Rebound even though we gave up half of our championship team, Pippen even though we knew he wouldn't do anything with Jordan around, Glen Rice, Shannon Anderson Moochie Norris. The list could go on and on, but my point is If they're a Rocket I always support them. Kind of like a ugly cousin that always get picked on but you love them so you would always stick up for them, I always stick up for my Rockets. I tried to give Tracy a chance when he got here, but everything he says and does makes my stomach curl. His play on the court is disheartening and I just don't feel like he is the type of guy we want representing a Houston Rocket team. With me living and growing up here in Houston I've seen hard working athletes, like Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. Hard workers that like to lead by example and passing the praise on to teammates. We've had Noylan Ryan, Earl Campbell, Hakeem, Cylde, Rudy and the heart of a champion and know we have Tracy. Talk about a let down So call me a Tracy hater? I can live with that, but a Rockets Fan I am and will always be!
i understand the "hate" for him THIS year. but in 04-05, 06-07, and last yr? u hated the guy too when he finished in top 6-7 MVP each year and all-nba?
