Too bad when anyone reads up on his "hall of fame" career. There will be 1 paragraph about his accomplishments and about 5 paragraphs filled with excuses on why he never advanced. There will probably be one sentence about the one time he did advance pass the first round by sitting on the bench for the Spurs. He had to keep the seat warm for Duncan or keep it cool since the A.C. busted.

I agree with the premise, but this is a pretty salty quote coming from a former player. Hall of Famers should get out of the 1st round at some point.

Well he's not exactly wrong. I think this is more of a shot at the championship chasers who sign cheap with contenders ala David West. Nowadays if you wanna win a ship you just sign with the Warriors. Swaggy P might have one by this time next year.

I don't know how many times I'll post on this thread.
I just know how many times tmac led the rockets to a playoff series victory .
    That number will never change.

One billion years from now. The number will still be zero

Is that a new category? If you weren't a starter it don't count?

You want to put mcgrady in the same category as mark madsen sure.
You don't pay max salary to a pine rider.

How about as a Houston rocket?

You have a point, Horry is probably the only guy with 7 rings who scored less than 13.2 ppg in playoffs and regular season.

And the 13 points he scored he did it mostly for the Rockets.

Almost never started for the Lakers and Spurs except for a few games when winning 5 championships with both the Fakers and the Spurs.

I like Horry but the Lakers and Spurs are franchises that I really abhor ....... he had skills but wasn't always counted on. And he had the luck of an honest working role player.

Derek Fisher also won like 5 ships and I really dun think Derek Fisher was such a good player except for some clutch 3 shots.

Jim Lostcutoff (you never heard of him, right) 7 ships

    Steve Kerr: 5

Kurt Rambis has like 4 and Horace Grant 4.

As much as I like him, Horry played with Hakeem, Duncan and Kobe and TP and Ginobili were at their respective top (Top 20 guys in the league)....arguably Top 10 players of Alltime. Kobe maybe Top 12.

Tmac was a Top 63 player of Alltime (listed on ESPN) and Yao Top 90 or something.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/page/nbarank160125/all-nbarank-61-70

Horry with Tmac and Yao without a Top 20 Player of Alltime would have made 2nd or even 3rd round but I am sure that is the last station.

Yao and Tmac were second options..... in retrospect. Top 2nd choices.

Alpha stats but Beta mentality, in Yao case, he wasn't a guard, he had to be fed with passes.

He can be bothered by jumpshooters like Okur, Boozer.

    Tmac was a great player

Look ai it this way if you replaced any player on any team with tmac in any era that team would win the championship

    Real talk

The same goes for Scottie pippen

Well there is also the debate of whether or not Tmac really deserves to be in the conversations of Hall of Famers. He is right in the sense that not everyone can make it to the hall of fame but when people think of Hall of famers, I am sure most of us would think of some sort of playoff success because that is when it matters the most. Maybe not necessarily as the main focal point of their success but at least as an integral part of their team. His only playoff success on any team is when he's sitting on the bench. This is both in regards to his Rockets and Spurs advancement of the first round.
Getting into the Hall of fame is an amazing feat. but it's meaning when in regards to Tracy Mcgrady will always be tarnished because his legacy will forever have the phrase "eliminated in the first round". That "hall of fame" legacy is nothing to be proud of or boast about.
He might as well not have been. He sat on the bench and openly told the media that the Lakers were going to beat the Rockets that second round. The Rockets team that was still paying him and he was collecting checks from and taking up cap space from. The same team that most people on this board and site root for.
Does TMac really deserve to be in the Hall of Fame in the first place?
