No problem. AK47 was a useful player and he had extremely good chemistry with that group, Deron, Boozer, Brewer or Fisher, Okur.

Extremely good spacing at that time. Rockets were very easy to defend and to beat in retrospect.

If you watched what the Warriors have today, you would know that the Jazz were a very poor version of the Warriors but still a version.

You can blame him (Mac) sure but if it were up to me, he gave enough effort in the playoffs at least.

Tmac never made it past the first round
At least Barkley made it to the finals

Tmac was never a leader that's his problem anywhere he goes
He can't even lead a Chinese team to the playoffs

Well supporting bench warmers who never see the court can still get a ring, so he kind of has a point from a player's perspective.

However, the championship is much harder on a team level.. and much more important to the fans.

Those Jazz teams were annoying, but they didn't re-invent the wheel. Mostly scrubs just like Tmac's teammates were at the time, right?

Tmac can come up with whatever excuses he wants, real Rockets fans will always know that he folded when the stakes were high.

You can call it making excuses, it's called understanding context. "Making excuses" is one thing when the arguments can't be factually supported, but that's not the case with Mac's individual performance, or his teams.

I'm just not sure why TMac gets blamed for every last detail out of his control while Harden gets the benefit of the doubt on everything. The truth is in the between on both guys. A guy who cries in a press conference because he gave it his all, versus a guy who was sitting on the bench thinking about strippers in game 6 without Kawhi playing, but we're not all sitting here bashing Harden (and we don't need to be).

I think psychology is playing into this; fans need something to release frustration on for those 10 years of dark-age basketball from 2001-2011. If Harden has a controversial health issue and never makes the finals with the Rockets, I think some of that bitterness will start to come his way, too.

In general, Clutchfans have a much higher opinion of any given Rockets player than the average, say, Phoenix Suns fan. However McGrady is pretty well-liked around the league, just discounted by a bitter faction here.

The Rockets were up by like 5 at home with 3 minutes to go in game 7 against Utah. McGrady didn't want the ball. He was being neutralized in single coverage by the likes of Derek Fisher and Gordan Giricek. The series was there for the taking, McGrady just had to basically do the minimum. In fairness, Harden did the same thing against SAS, but at least it was in the SECOND round.

No wonder TMac didn't go college. It is like saying I play in the NBA, you don't. This is the same guy who went to the Spurs to try to get a ring.

This is a fair point. But the counterpoint is that Mac had played 40 minutes; Adelman only went 2 deep on the bench (Juwan Howard, and Luther Head). Giricek had only played 11 minutes. You're talking about a guy who had taken 25 shots and played his heart out versus a guy with fresh legs off the bench whose job is just to flop and antagonize. In fact, Fisher was a -23 for the Jazz in that game (LOL) but the Jazz bench (Harpring + Giricek) with +13 and +12 in a 4 point game tells the story. The Rockets depth had nothing to give.

Anyway, I've spoken my peace in this thread. This is the 1000th iteration of this debate, just with a couple of new faces. :) The McGrady issue is politics at this point. Pick a side and go to work. Polarizing player gonna polarize.

McGrady is right to compare himself to scrubs with championship rings.

Hey T-Mac, how about those dozens of HOFers with rings??

    You better than them, too???
