I see Morey trading TMac for someone with similar skills that can contribute immediately. It seems unlikely to me he'd trade TMac AND Landry for a #5 pick that is a long way from a sure thing. Even Morey said that if you exclude the PGs this is a below average draft.

No thanks to bad contracts. We know that DM is trying to avoid those like the plague.

Ricky Rubio. It appears Morey wants him badly. If he is there at 5 dont be surprised to see this deal go down. He has already stated that he thinks Rubio is going to be something special.

Right on,there won't be a sure shot guy at #5.Even if we got Hill,Thomas and James for Landry and McGrady it won't be enough by any means.Waste of time.

Since they are talking with the Celtics about Ray Allen, i'm assuming there's more than just the 5th pick and bad contracts on the table.

Mcgrady and Landry would be gone in a heartbeat if we could swipe Arenas+Blatche. Blatche is just starting a 5 yr 15M deal. He's the perfect cheap-tall-young-athletic 4/5 with range that we've been waiting on. And, maybe Shane and Ron could work on his game with women so he can leave the prostitutes alone. I wouldn't even care about the #5 pick.

I'm not so sure about that. Arenas has had 3 knee surgeries in the last couple of years, and has barely played. No thanks.

there's also a really good chance that rubio will drop to 5th pick b/c he didnt impress the kings in the work out he had the other day.
Memphis isnt going to take him and Thunder already have westbrook and seem interested in thabeet.......

Does anyone think we are still trying to get Vince Carter? I am not big on doing all the trade scenarios, but does anyone know of a viable 3 way deal with the Nets ending up actually getting the early draft pick with us trading Tracy and Landry?

Heard that Kings are not exactly satisfied with Rubio's tryout; Rubio might fall through

Maybe Dan Feigen is doing this intentionally so that when Rockets get the No. 5 pick they can pick up Rubio

    Just saying!

Notice in the article, that some are said to be offered, and some say "would" or "could." This is the writers opinion that the Rockets WOULD offer McGrady and Landry, but not inside information of any kind.

I seriously doubt that there is anybody we could pick at #5, that Morey would justify for TMac's contract, TMac's talent, Landry, and taking on matching bad contracts, that reduce our options in 2010. The only one that MIGHT do that would be if Rubio fell, or possibly Thabeet, and one of them was the desire of someone like NO, in getting us someone like Chris Paul, although I think that's mostly fantasy ... although a wonderful one.

I don't think this draft is that good. That doesn't mean there aren't any players of value, especially PGs, or later in the draft, because it does seem deep. It's so easy to get hyped at draft time.

What I WOULD like to see, is for us to BUY as many draft picks as possible, especially in this economic downturn, and gain additional trading chits, even if its to turn right around and trade them for future picks, or for other players that can increase our talent.

Morey seems to have a good handle on all the options he has at his disposal this off-season, and this is just one step. It has greater value in gaining assets, than players we can use right now.

I'd think TMac's contract will have greater value in trade, or around the trade deadline this winter, after he shows his recovery.

We shouldn't have to take on a bunch of garbage contracts, T-macs contract coming off the books for a team in financial troube should be an asset in itself. I would take the Wizards pick for Landry alone but I think we could get something back in return worth more then garbage for T-mac.

why would the wizards do this? they already have enough scoring guards and forwards...how would that team even work? Can you imagine Arenas, Butler, Jamison and Tmac all on the floor on the same time? You'd need like 6 basketballs.

That would be an asstastic trade... Morey would never do that. And if he did, it would have to be part of some maniacal plan to hustle the whole league.

Hopefully so. The rumored moves or deals out there (this one, and the Memphis one) are crappy deals. I could see us taking back one bad contract but 2 or more, no thanks. Looks like we'll have to sit out on a trade until McGrady can come back and show something or can increase his value.

How much you want to bet that it's Rubio or nothing? I think Morey wants pick number two or maybe a low twenties pick as a fall back plan.

Just what is at number five that's worth Tracy's expiring?

WTF trade T-Mac for a bag of bones. Sit on him for a year and let all that cap space free up!!!
Or at least wait until the trade deadline where hopefully a team desperate for that cap space will put a more attractive offer on the table.
We are used to being without T-Mac's injury prone self, just wait it out one more season and then pursue someone worth all that money!

There was a report earlier today that the Kings are going sour over Rubio. If do somehow manage to get the 5th pick without giving up too much, he could slip to us.
