They only provide #2 on your list. The stats can be brokendown to against isolation, pnr ball handler, spotup... By the way, I have updated the stats a few posts above yours to include the recent 5 games. For some reason I'm not able to update my original post in first page.
Defensive stats won't stay the same lol. NBA defense improves as the season progresses. Last week the Heat were the worst defensive team in the NBA lol. He was ranked 128th last year if he stays anyway close to that range by the end of the season his defensive stats will show that he is what he is, a good defender.
The whole team's defensive stats are dropping which makes sense as they've lost the last 4 of 5 with all 4 of those teams scoring 100+ points on us.
Hes an offensive beast too....look at his assists and his assist to turnover ratio...Lin starts hitting his shots, gets hi percentage over 40% and hes an allstar
How much do they charge for the data? #2 alone provides insight about a player's overall defensive ability against different types of offenses but it does not tell the whole story. For example, Chuck Hayes is a great low post defender. When the big men (ex: Bynum, Aldridge, Gasol, etc) tried to post him up, he always shut them down during his days with the Rockets. However, he had less success (relatively) against big men who also have a low center of gravity (ex: Brand, Nene, etc).
Well I'm sure it will fluctuate over the course of the season. But surprising thing is based on these stats, maybr he really isn't as bad as people think.
I don't know about these stats, but the team is not good defensively as a whole. My specific thoughts: PG: Lin I think he is better than many made him out to be. Does he get beat? Yes. But so does Douglas, and so do most PGs. It's just not possible given the quality of NBA PGs to be a lock down defender in a Gary Payton way. Larger, dominant wing players probably have the best chance of locking down these PGs - the Lebrons or Kobe's when focused... given their size and athleticism allow for better recovery and close-outs, but then they are obviously not guarding the other teams wings, so there are mismatch problems. I think Douglas has been worse than advertised. He looks great, in his defensive stance, etc. But he gets beat just like Lin. I see no reason to sub LIn out for Douglas for defensive purposes for great periods of time. For one play at the end of the game or quarter, sure. Why Lin didn't play the overtime against Portland remains a mystery. SG: I have no idea if Harden is a bad defender, average defender, or great defender. It's hard to tell when he's trying. I think he is probably a better team defender than individual, and likely is frustrated by the overall lack of solid fundamental team defense... but he can still put in more effort. SF: Parsons. I still think Parsons is a rock solid defender, in a Battier or Battier light mode. So not a Lebron lock down defense (when Lebron chooses to do so), but very very solid. PF: No defensive stalwarts here. Outmatched when playing against taller PFs. Not particular excellent rebounders. Center: Asik has been neutral. He's a fantastic rebounder. But I'm not sure he intimidates or blocks as well as I expected. I think he would be much much better in an overall better team scheme. Cole Aldrich is outmatched defensively, which is saying a lot since there aren't exactly a ton of proficient offensive centers. Greg Smith is ok. I'd play him going forward, and not Aldrich, as the backup. Team defense: this is the real problem. Maybe it's because they're young. Got to look at coaching, too. But they just don't grasp great team scheme defense yet. Particularly when it comes to defending the pick and roll. The Portland game as a prime example. Yes, Lillard and Batum were hot, as was Aldridge at times. But they had no clue whether they should be going under the pick, fighting over the pick, switching picks, who should be rotating where, etc. Coaching: Mentioned above, but defensive coaching schemes have been very subpar. Bad on pick and rolls and rotating. Don't know when to double. Gamble too much, in poor ways - I don't mind gambling, but you need to understand who is doing it, when, etc. They don't get back on defense well, either. I've seen more runouts per game than I can remember. Whether coaches are focusing on it or not, Lin and the guards need to - you can't let a guy get behind you. Defense is the culprit of the team's record. It's a function of age, time together and coaching as much as anything. I think the team can be good defensively. Asik is a good team defender. Parsons is a good defender. Lin is an average defender. Harden is an average defender who can play good team d if properly coached. PF defense needs to get better.
He works for Morey. He has the stats tattooed on the inside of his eyelids. Most likely he did not think before talking, and therefore will never be a head coach - a face of the franchise and all.
The comment on team defense may be correct, but it does not give enough weight to young players playing in a new system. I doubt it is possible to assemble any bunch of 2nd and 3rd year players, stuff them all on a newly assembled team, and get decent defense initially. Rotations are match up dependent, both in when you rotate and who you rotate onto, so it is going to take time for them to get on the same page. Proper spacing on defense also takes time to work out. Coaching - see above comment.
Well gee, when I watch him shut down Josh Smith, Aldridge, Monroe, do you want me to continue? I watch him shut down the PnR. Where are your eyes? Everybody gives ground, specify what you mean. Patterson does not give up much ground actually. He has a good base in the post and quick feet.
I think price fluctuates...I got it a few months ago with their playoff special deal. You can just go to http://mysynergysports.com/ and check out the current pricing.
Team defense is largely coaching. I give our coaching staff the benefit of the doubt for now because of the youth of the team. But if we are still this bad at mid season, I'll call them out. There is no excuse for not being able to put out good defensive result with a guy like Asik in the middle.
Stupid browser keeps saying I havent installed Silverlight when I have. i guess I will also need to pay to access?
