I've watched Dyess the last few games. He's playing like the old Dyess The old Dyess is better than Bonzi
exactly...... I personally watched the spurs game today against the young bulls.......and it was very appparent that the young legs was giving them fits...........they were not even in the game in the second half at all.....not even the inevitable "run" that all nba teams do..............tim has lost a step as well as ginobili for some reason.....tony parker is still a blur though.....but after that it reminds me of the rockets team of last year........barry, westley, sura, jim jackson, all a season or 2 to late name 2 teams besides phoenix and dallas......that u can say is hands down without a doubt better than the rockets right now.............even without yao????????????????
I can't, but how long will Deke and Juwan keep playing heavy minutes at such an effective level? That is my concern. They aren't "young legs."
Damn Spurs slowing down like that on us...who else is going to beat the Mavs in the WCF?? I mean unless we get there somehow. I don't think Phoenix can take Dallas they'll get crushed in the playoffs. I don't want them to even get a crack at the finals again. b*stard Mavs.
Yeah, Phoenix can't take on Dallas.. but I think they will run the heck out of the Mavs and tenderize the juicy horse meat for us to feast on. I think that's why Mavs lost to the (extremely lucky) Heat last year, they simply ran out of gas by the time they beat Suns and Spurs.
NOW THATS A REAL CONCERN.......REAL TALK MAN!!!! when i heard march for yao i was wundering myself if our two superstar throwbacks could sustain this for 2 months........... but hey.....there is a god and he couldn't possibly let us have any more injuries than we already have can he????????(t-mac, yao, bonzi)
I agree that the old Dyess was a beast. if he is playing like that again, then by all means trade bonzi for him.
He's nothing like the old Antonio McDyess. Pre-microfracture, that guy was the precursor to Amare Stoudamire. Now he's a mid-range jump shooter with a modest post game. Still a very good role player, but nothing like the guy he was before the big injury. And on top of that, he's not having that great a season. His shooting percentage dropped like a rock this year but his rebounding numbers have stayed constant. I guess you can chalk it up to a bad start but it doesn't exactly bode well.
I agree too. As far as midrange shooting is concerned, I think I'd take Juwan Howard over Dyess too. Howard is for real. His defense is still shaky, but you can tell, his shot is money now. A little more arc, goes in cleaner. Howard right now, is better than Webber AND McDyess. As far as our position in the league, I just find it unfair that we have the 4th best record out West, but because of the seedings, we're placed at the 5th spot. I think barring any major surges/injuries, what you see now, is most probably what's gonna happen in the playoffs. A matchup against the Jazz isn't bad, and realistically speaking, it's the best we can hope for. But what I wanna see is home-court advantage against them. I truly believe the Red Rowdies are gonna make the playoffs a blast this year, and that's an intangible that will give our team a big boost come playoff time. Who's better than us in the West? I'd say Spurs, Mavs, Phoenix. And if you wanna talk about talent, then the Jazz. Why? They have 3 quality players and a shut-down defender. Fully healthy, we have 2 quality players and a shut-down defender. Harpring and Luther cancel each other out, and the rest of the bench is basically meh. Juwan/Chuck will be the X-factor IF we play a series with them. But basically, out West, I think we're the 4th or 5th best team, depending on our mojo on a given night, which is true to the rankings right now.
1. Mavs 2. Spurs 3. Suns then Lakers/Jazz/Rockets either of these teams can beat the other any given night.
I take that about the Rox not getting homecourt back. Seems like I forgot about the new ruling, where we WILL get homecourt if our record is better than the 4th seed. Oh wells, power to the Rockets!
I wonder who JVG would pick and I can pretty much guarantee you he wouldn't pick the Spurs. Personally I would rather play the Sun's or the Mavericks.
I said they are all close there at the bottom of my list. And until Utah loses more to the west and we win more, sorry, I'm not ready to say we are better than them absolutely right now. Obviously, this is just my opinion
I think, though, that everyone is completely discounting the possibility of passing San Antonio. As it stands now, the Spurs would be the #3 seed (unless Utah passes them too, but that is unlikely). However, we are only one game behind SA in the loss column. While the Rox seem to be ascending, the Spurs seem to be in a very gradual, yet very real, decline. Wouldn't surprise me in the least for Houston to wind up the #3 seed in the playoffs. Everyone is worried so much about playing Phoenix or Dallas, maybe even in rd 1 if we can't keep out of the #7 or #8 holes... but who would we be playing if we slide into the #3 spot? Looks like it would probably be the Lakers. Ouch. Good thing that would be here, home-court. Last thing I really want to see is Kobe in the playoffs. Either them, or Minny, or Denver. I know a lot will change between now and the playoffs, but as it currently stands, we might actually be better off in the #5 slot (really 4th, as far as home-court is concerned - UNLESS Utah passes SA, in which case we would be going to visit the Spurs) than in the #3.
dallas and phoenix are on a role right now....but they will come back down to earth at some point and lose some to.........injuries could also further shake the west up before the season is over......we are not the only team to get them............ I see us in the 3 or 4 seed comin into june......with a healthy yao back....no way we got to 7 or 8 in my book
even though the spurs havent been playing well as late....i wouldnt want to face them early in the playoffs..theyre a veteran team and they know what they need to do to win in the playoffs..
