I just put that under my sig on the real gm site - I only post in other teams' forums on that site, so I thought it would be fun to drop a few posts on the mavs board
Speaking of this...what does Amare have over Swift physically? A stronger body. That's it. Swift is his equal in every other way. As far as game, Amare has matured faster. He has better post up game and a better idea of how to rebound. As far as attitude, like the young Hakeem, Amare is hard-headed and relentless;he plays with a lot of pride. I believe this has more to do with how you are brought up than something that can be learned at the age of 25. I wish Stro can prove me wrong. Swift needs to get better in stages. For now just learn how to rebound like Cato learned--yes Cato--he was a pretty good rebounder by the time he left us. Rebounding is more than jumping. I believe his jumping ability has spoiled him. On the offensive side, learn the jump hook. You're not always going to get to the rim. Also don't forget the up and under move to draw 3 point plays. The the is adding to your game every year. Next year, learn the fadeaway going to your right. The key to all this is implementation and creating habits through repetition and feedback, be it through video or supervision by another(coach/player). I am sure JVG knows this already.
YABA DABA DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo! WHOOP! I'm really looking forward to next season now! I wonder what the first words between him and Yao are going to be when he's officialized as a Rocket. I mean, he did have a bunch of NASTY facials on Yao.
Amare>Almost everybody in the league Swift has a similar skill set and YES He CAN jump as high as Stoudemire. He's not as good as Stoudemire, but then you woudn't expect a max player (15mill+/year possibly) to compare to a 6mill/year player, would you?
Alright people, We got what we wanted. Now their should not be any reason for not showing up and not cheering for the team. I don't want to see the same toyota center again, i want a new arena, where people cheer there hearts out. Please people go buy tickets for the next season and actually SHOW UP>
Hell Freakin Yeah! Even sweeter now is hearing the b****ing from Mavs Fans! Thankyou Grizzlies for this gift! (not that you had anything to do with it). Payback's a b**** aint it?!
BRING MARKO JARIC TO HOUSTON!!! Jaric is the last piece to the puzzle! Although it's highly unlikey that we can make a deal. Maybe a sign and trade? Hey Swift was a long shot too. From ESPN: Interest in Marko Jaric is heating up. According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the Clippers' restricted free agent point guard is scheduled to visit the Cavaliers Thursday. "I think Cleveland is a perfect place for him," Jaric's agent, Bill Duffy, said. "He's a good decision-maker, a spot-up shooter, and an on-ball defender, and that's the last piece the Cavaliers need." Good decision-maker...spot-up shooter...on-ball defender...IT'S ALL WE'RE MISSING IN A NUT SHELL!
In front of KG and Duncan and Amare? I don't think so. You won't have 2 million votes coming from China.
Not me. This idea that internet votes from China are a big influence on the all star game voting (which I assume that you are referring to) is tired, and actually untrue. Steve Francis was voted to the All Star Team before Yao joined the team so I don't think anyone can assume that he got voted to two other all star games because of the Yao connection. And according to NBA.com Yao was actually outpolled by Shaq in online votes for the 2003-2004 ASG. http://www.nba.com/allstar2004/allstar_game/starter_040129.html Swift has no chance to start the ASG. Duncan and KG will definitely have more votes. So will Amare and T-mac if they are listed as forwards.
I'm glad to see everyone is excited about Stromile coming to Houston (including me), but let's make sure that we stay grounded. He's coming in as a role player who has a lot of room for improvement. He needs to improve his work ethic to capitalize on his potential, and I hope JVG and crew will be able to help with us. Also, it will probably take some time to adjust to the new team. Our system here revolving around an MVP caliber 2/3 and top-flight center is very different than what they were doing in Memphis. Remember it took the Rockets several months to get untracked last year before they got a feel for their roles and went on a tear to finish the season. Just keep that in mind if Stro & the Rockets happen to get off to anything less than a 20-5 start.
Up until now, I have been so overwhelmed by the signing I have posted only a handful of times in the GARM. But I have read all 499 prior posts in this thread. This is one the better posts of all 499. It's an 82 game season and we have for sure one new rotational player with an LLE and a trading season yet to come. Thanks for bringing this up.
