I understand what you're saying, but I don't think VSpan (ok, Deuce, you win) is that type of player. Of course I'm saying this without actually having seen him play yet, so I could be wrong. From what I can tell, VSpan is potentially an Eduardo Najera, a Ryan Bowen, a Mark Madsen-type in that he plays aggressively and "annoyingly". He eats at players because he's always hustling. He's not playing dirty or trying to start fights but his aggressive style could cause altercations.

But like I said, I haven't actually seen the guy play - I'm just going off descriptions of his play given on here.

    hehehehehe

I'm lov'n it. I sure hope it goes down a couple times. Actually, it would be great if it started with Yao. He's the one that is going to get picked on because of his affiable nature. One time, I'd love to see him get in someone's face and chest bump them into the 2nd row and then run after them for some more. Then have all the hotheads come stick up for him.

I love the fact that we've got players that won't take any .... out there. They aren't dirty but we've got hustlers that ain't gonna take no ....

And it's gonna happen too. When teams realize how good we are, they're gonna be reaching in the bag of tricks for something and they're gonna pull out the old fight card. Don't be surprised if it's Phoenix either. Especially if Amare is back. There could be a lot of combustion between Amare and a guy like Bonzi. Not to mention Marion. Both of those guys are pretty high strung.

Not to mention Dallas and Terry. I'd like to see JVG stick VSpan out there for a couple minutes against Terry, sometime in a a 4th quarter where our foul count is low, and let Billy go after him for 94 feet on 3 or 4 possessions. Big game with fouls to give. Let Billy bump him around for a couple minutes. Think he'll get bowed up? hehehehehe

How about Bruce Bowen and all the "didn't mean to do it" crap he dishes out? Bonzi ain't gonna take it. I don't think Snyder will either. Snyder is the type of guy that will just dish it back out on the other end with some crazy jump over the ball handler and kick him in the face move. And McGrady may realize that it is in his team's best interest to get a little action going himself. After all, this team can replace him with Bonzi and still be very effective. TMac may take some chances on the floor that he hasn't taken in the last couple years because he knew we needed him out there so bad.

Oh, I wished Karla and Pasty were still around. This is the crew that you throw out there against them and they stick all their crap back on them. Bonzi, posting up, driving the lane, and then kicking out his foot right in Karla's you know whats. Get VSpan out there to go down into the lane and trip people and grab their jerseys as they are flying around.

Where teams are going to attack us physically is with Yao though. They know how important he is to us. And they know that they have a puncher's chance if he is out of the game. I hope them shoes get fixed. Because they are gonna try to smash his toe into tofu. And I hope he doesn't take it.

I played this game. The best, most pleasurable thing to do is to get even with a player on the other end of the court when you know they are trying to get your goat with physical play and yacking. You just shut up, take them down the other end, and whether the ref is looking or not, you just bang them real hard on a rebound attempt without looking at them, or stomp their foot, etc., etc., etc. You just turn up the physicality without even acknowledging they are there until they initiate the fight.

I hope we play it smart and pick our spots. I never told the ref what was going on. Always acted like they were my best friend. Never complained to them. The best thing to do is just get them back on the other end. Never acknowledge the opponent and never complain to the ref. Just all bidness.

Nah, Tmac is not a fighter he's a lover. He's a sheep in wolf's clothing if that makes any sense lol

Bonzi and Snyder have some ghetto fight in them. Not Tmac.

Sounds a lot like Batier to me... I don't see anyone taking exception to him.

They won't get into fights because the leaders of the team will not let them.

There is a clear hierarchy on this Rockets, with Yao and Tmac leading the way, the rest of the pups will fall in line.

I think playing with swagger is fine as long as it isn't false bravado.

I want to see Desmond Mason try to flip Yao when Snyder, Mcgrady, Bonzi, and Wild Bill are on the court.

If only Sura could make it back for one game we could have a brawling lineup of Sura, Snyder, Bonzi, Mcgrady, and Howard.

The only thing is, Hakeem and Ralph Sampson could knock 'em all out.

maybe you should continue making predictions [and quit with the stat-less facts]:
    http://www.nypost.com/seven/10152006/sports/bucks_stop_here_sports_peter_vecsey.htm

As for West, the pending sale of the Grizzlies to a group organized by former Duke teammates, Brian Davis and Christian Laettner, caused a wide scope of speculation. At first, Memphis media had The Logo on the verge of being fired. Shortly afterward, hearsay went 180 degrees with West supposedly in line for a 10-year extension.

The reality is, West has decided (no backsies, no change of mind, not this time, emphasizes a source) to retire after this season and head for the hills, Appalachians, actually, of West Virginia, where he built his dream escape lean-to.

No formal announcement is expected to be made within the foreseeable future. Therefore, ESPN can feel free to quote me (or not) when it chooses the right time to steal the story and call it its very own.

sure, this is coming from Peter Vecsey, but hey, even a dog can catch his tail on a good day, right?

I think the answer will be taken care off this year with our roster.

As for the brawls, I love watching brawls, just not when our players are involved.. I'd hate for suspensions to come to our players. But if we ever do get into one, I hope it's Rybo, that's what he gets for still being in the team (if he still is).

Agree, Sam. Sounds like half this group wants the team to emulate the JailBlazers.

We know Snyder has a past. Not only the incident with the Rockets and JVG but also his postgame fight with Jerry Stackhouse (that he apparently lost). Bonzi has also had a few incidents but no real fights that I can remember. That's probably because nobody wants to get ghetto-stomped by him.

I also agree with the point that VSpan will have some altercations simply because he plays such physical defense. He is already crashing into people when going for steals. NBA players don't like contact and someone is going to get pissed by the way he hounds them on defense. I don't see him backing down from anyone either. I doubt he'll throw a punch but some chest bumping will probably go down.

I really think Snyder is the only guy who could be a loose cannon. Tmac doesn't like to fight, Wells is playing for a contract and we know Battier and Yao will almost always walk away from a confrontation.

The all brawl lineup would be:

    Sura
    Snyder
    McGrady
    Deke
    Bonzi

Since Sura won't make it back, you'd have to put Rafer (retaliator) or VSpan (instigator) at the point. If we see that lineup on the floor, I would be we are trying to get some.

You guys are nuts if you don't think that there isn't going to be any confrontations this season. Even without heated rivalries between great teams there are incidents. We are going to be going at Phoenix, SA, and Dallas hard and they are going to be coming at us hard. Both sides know they are in for a dogfight. There will be some fisticuffs.
