2 hours to go through TSA for a domestic flight? thats crazy

i am so glad I've never been that delayed through security before the most was a little over an hour and thats because I was pulled off to the side to be "randomly" searched and asked questions.

kudos to SW though, I am sure the passengers were probably not that upset, the delay was only 12 minutes and it was for a good reason rather than the other reasons that are given for delays.

I flew out of Hobby the Sunday morning after Thanksgiving. I arrived at the airport 1hr before my flight and the line was out the door and into the car drop off area. I even got dropped off at the pick-up area because the top floor line was ridiculous. Anyhow, Southwest is amazingly fast in terms of getting the line moving. And security was swift too. I was "late checked" and assumed I'd have to be on the next flight, but I walked right onto the plane just before the door was shut. Southwest: crappy accommodations, great service.

He likely bought his ticket a few hours before the flight. If you do that, your ticket gets stamped, your bags get probed, and you are subject to the extra careful search. Typically, they have fewer people doing this and it can get backed up easily.

Everytime I fly to a fire, it's on a one-way ticket bought a few hours before the flight. That the ticket is bought by a federal agency and that I have a fed ID as well as firefighter quals doesn't matter. Off to the almost-cavity search line I go simply because my one-way ticket was just purchased... that's the reg and no special dispensation for me.

Going out is not bad, but coming back is sometimes brutal, particularly when there's a bunch of us being released from the assignment at the same time. That means you're going through the line with 20 other firefighters who haven't bathed recently and have everything from traces of jet fuel to fusees and explosives on their clothes and bags. It can be a real drag and I have come very close to missing flights because of this ridiculousness.

Thankfully, it's gotten better recently and they seem to cut us a little slack, but I can easily see how a regular person flying on short notice would be delayed for much longer than expected.

I'd like to give Southwest some credit, but the only feeling I can manage is that it should never happen that someone arrives 2 hours before departure and is still late to the gate. He should get a bj to make up for customer service that terrible.

I've had one that left early on me once (f***in Continental). They then proceeded to essentially blame me for my connection getting in late...as if I was the pilot.

Southwest is the best way to fly if you don't care about 1st class and you can get your boarding pass early enough to actually pick your own seat.

Cool story, I've always loved flying SW.

Hopefully the boyfriend gets repeatedly slammed in prison.

TSA does God's work. The front line in the war against terror. Show some respect.
