I cant believe you guys still respond to Basso. (granted he'll probably post regardless of whether someone responds or not) I dont know when Basso went from bad to worse but I dont recall him ever trolling at this level a few years ago. I suppose part of that was there were other people to eclipse him in trolling but still, the quality of D&D threads as a whole has gotten a lot worse since every other one is some bad right wing flavor of the month catchphrase with an article filled with paragraphs that could be summed up in a couple of sentences. I think I used to post here a lot, but somehow everything de-evolves into angry troll wars.
It's fair to make a connection between this murder and anti-government hysteria being whipped up by the right-wing media. I don't call that coincidence or irony. One is a contributing factor to the other.
National cancers like Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck have a huge base of listeners. When they go on and on about the evils of government in the manner they do, that will whip up this base into a frenzy. Most perhaps handle it responsibly, marching peacefully amongst assorted racist degenerates for instance. Some act like buffoons, and try to derail civil discussion at town hall meetings. And a few, mentally unstable and on the farthest fringe, may be compelled to act violently. I believe this murderer falls in the last category.
do you have any evidence to suggest the perpetrators of this crime (who remain unknown) listen to either Beck or Limbaugh? this would have been a better title for this thread: <object width="250" height="40"> <param name="movie" value="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf"></param> <param name="wmode" value="window"></param> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param> <param name="flashvars" value="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=15437450&style=metal&p=0"></param> <embed src="http://listen.grooveshark.com/songWidget.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="40" flashvars="hostname=cowbell.grooveshark.com&widgetID=15437450&style=metal&p=0" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="window"></embed></object>

No. I also have no evidence that the census worker in question didn't accidentally scribble FED on his chest and hang himself in a macabre comedy of errors. Common sense leads me to eliminate that possibility, much as it leads me to believe that whoever committed this crime is very likely an extremist right winger. So does this person listen to Beck or Limbaugh? Look, I try to avoid their crap as much as possible, and even I'm exposed to the vitriol their spreading. You can't not be listening to it, unless you happen to live in a cave.
who got killed who does he work for? and what does he have written across his chest? how does rural kentucky compare the the US as whole interms of pct of people who listen to beck/limbaugh or watch beck/fox news?
i don't know- it's not unreasonable to expect these folks might not even have a TV, or if they do, cable.
it's all over the internet you idiot more-- FBI: Sparkman Was Found Touching Ground, Not Hanging From Tree Bill Sparkman, the Census worker found dead in Kentucky recently was not found hanging from a tree, according to an FBI spokesman. Rather, David Beyer told TPMmuckraker, Sparkman's feet were planted on the ground. A rope around Sparkman's neck was attached to a tree. An anonymously sourced AP report said that Sparkman was hanging from a tree, and that he had the word "Fed" scrawled on his chest. Beyer, a spokesman with the FBI's Louisville, Kentucky filed office, declined to comment on the accuracy of the "Fed" detail. But he was at pains to ratchet back speculation that Sparkman was killed in an act of anti-government sentiment, saying that investigators had not yet determined even whether the death was a homicide. Previous reporting "left the impression that [Sparkman] was found strung up in a tree because he was a federal employee," Beyer said. "At this juncture that's not accurate." Beyer added that Sparkman died of asphyxiation. Earlier this afternoon, a state police spokesman told Greg Sargent at the Plum Line that the AP report contained errors, and that Sparkman was "in contact with the ground" when he was found. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsme...und_touching_ground_not_hanging.php?ref=fpblg
Thanks for the update. Looks like there's a stronger possibility now that it was a suicide or non-politically motivated murder. We'll see.
