In Austin I vote for Maru or Uchi. I really like Maru. Their rolls seem much larger than average and price doesn't seem that bad. The quality was good the handful of times that I've been. Uchi probably does have the freshest fish, but its more expensive, takes quite a while to get a seated, and everything there seems smaller. Definitely the fanciest and very good. Dim Sum in Austin is pretty much what everyone else said, though the place above (or part of) Musashino is pretty good. It probably has the most unique selection. They had things like Chilean sea bass and shrimp cocktails the one time I've been. I've been to a lot of dim sum places in Houston and Austin and never seen that stuff...
i love sushi, but talk about overpriced. nothing the size of my index finger should cost over $1.50/piece.
I've heard great things about the Godzilla but haven't tried it. It's on my to do list when I get back to Austin. Count me in if a happy hour pans out.
