Someone will give her an album deal so she might not be one and done. If William Hung's CD can sell a million copies, this woman sure can. Give her some expensive makeup, new clothes, a hair cut, etc. and she wouldn't look as bad.
Yes, she could very well get an album deal and a lot of people would buy it. But, is it going to be an album of covers that she sings well? Doesn't seem very interesting to me if there is no original material. Hung was able to get away with it because his voice was a joke and I dunno why but it drove people to buy his album. It's not like people bought Hung's album cause they take him seriously as a singer. Here...we are taking her seriously as a singer and because we didn't expect someone looking like her to pack a punch in her voice. But, why would I want to listen to her sing songs that have been done before? At some point, she would need original material to go anywhere...wouldn't she? Or, maybe she can do P90X and have a bod to match her voice that we didn't expect? lol.
I agree. If she were "hot" there wouldnt be this hoopla. Because she doesn't fit the mold everyone is shedding a tear and getting lumps in their throats. There are probably many more like her that'll never get a shot.
If we reversed the looks of say Brittany Spears and Susan Boyle. Brittany would be at home playing with her cats, because she can't sing. They wouldn't have to put near as much work in refining her voice as they do with Brittany.
Pretty Much I am sure she will make some music she will make some money but I was listening a guy on CNN that was predicting a world tour and #1 Albums, etc I'm not so sure about that I am willing to be proven wrong but . . . . . Rocket River
I just searched for it. I actually prefer Susan Boyle. It's smooth and silky. The kid is great too. It was all staged. They already had the Jackson 5 music in the tape player. The 2 backstage guys only had to hit play. Of course, the producers prescreened these two and sent the tapes to Simon before the final broadcast.
I never thought I would witness a cheesier show than American Idol and then Britain's Got Talent comes skipping along...
Not going to waste my time reading the inevitably cynical replies this thread contains. Instead, just going to say - that was one of the most wonderful things I have ever seen. And while she is a pleasant-seeming person, and has an extraordinarily good voice, the thing which was most notable was how an entire theater filled with cynics was almost instantly transformed into wide-eyed children, stunned, and especially the judges, who were floored. She humbled them and took their breath away, and it was amazing. I wouldn't anticipate too much in the way of covers, maybe one Rod Stewart-like album. Her path is probably going to lie in voice and song work for animated films, much like Angela Lansbury. I hope she is a great success, because once in a while the world needs to be reminded that there is magic sometimes, and not every peg is always going to fit into the holes we predict.
Maybe I'm too cynical about these types of moments, but I still think the whole thing was staged. It just all seemed too perfect. Felt very contrived to me. I really don't think the judges were as 'surprised' as they acted.
No kidding. And I REALLY don't see how this is different from cell phone guy 2 years earlier. In this moronic America, Simon judicial shock screams fantastic ratings, and I'll assume they didn't get enough off Opera boy, which was the exact same story. So much so that they redid it on the insanely bad "America's got talent." I'm good with one trick ponies. It saddens me when copies like this are done.
Britain's got talent gets ridiculous. I wonder what's up for next week. Boyle has to be a scam. Look at this week's show. 10 yr old girl does an awkard ballerina dance and bores the judges. She busts out a broadway voice and upstages last week's contestant. Judges act all surprised and say how they never seen anybody like this in 3 years of the show. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bOeWz2k4tTI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bOeWz2k4tTI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
