I don't know about that lady. She definitely seemed to be unpolished from out of nowhere. She did some singing for charity with a previous contestant.

I mean this is an ok story, but it is freaking everywhere this past week. Here, MSN and Yahoo front page, dozens of places on facebook, etc. It's not that cool of a story. Seems like a complete retread of the cell phone opera guy a couple years ago.
So you go to YouTube and look up songs from Les Mis and the comments are pages long of spam just saying crap like 'Copy and paste this message if you found your way here because of Susan Boyle'. And even more idiotic comments like, 'This singer is just okay, but Susan was better'. They're talking about the singer who was hand-picked by the original producer for the Les Mis' 10 Year Anniversary Concert. And they're saying that this lady, Susan, (who was great btw) is better than the professional singer? Stuff like that makes me want to a anti-Susan backlash, but it's not her fault.

Actually, the title for the pic I found of her said, "Susan Boyle: Needs support"......... So I'm guessing they are talking about Bras.
There are lots of physically attractive people who are unsuccessful. Performers who break through have a sufficient mix of talent, aesthetics, personality, good marketing and often colloborate with well-talented songwriters and musicians. To have all of these qualities separates them from the pack and makes them worthy of their fame and fortune. And I'm not all that sure musical talent is less "frivolous" than physical beauty. Both actually require a certain amount of work to acquire and retain, and neither cures cancer.
The big aww factor was that everyone was expecting a pathetic voice from a physically not-so-pleasant looking woman and, when they didn't get it to match their sterotype of her, they felt like crap that it didn't fit their perception. And, this put wheels in motion because everyone who sees the video was expecting a bad voice (except we were already in on knowing she had a good voice). So, in turn, this fuels the fire to her fame. I think this will blow over eventually. I think she is on minute 5 of her 15 minutes.
