AMAZING voice. The lady's got charisma as well. No doubt she's going to make something of herself soon if she hasn't already. Why would you fix her up "a bit"? What doesn't make it with you, sir? Shallow city, population YOU.
Her authenticity and excitement really make her shine. She may not have "classic" beauty, but watching her beam like that - she is beautiful.
Very nice I like these stories where average people with unique abilities are able to realise thier dream (pun intended)
Nah, that's not mean: it's reality. Broadway, much more than the opera world, is very much about appearance. Though opera is catching up to Broadway in that regard. Having said that, her voice is good. Not great, but good. She'd be good enough to sing a principal role in some regional theater production, but nowhere near good enough to be a lead on Broadway. Factor in her looks and she's a chorus singer, at best.
Did she have a tear in her eye when she saw this, too? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qOMKt34hIsI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qOMKt34hIsI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Great singer but yet another example of how shallow culture is these days. Just because she is a dumply looking 47 year old why did the judges expect her to not have musical talent? Considering how many good looking women there are in the music biz who have little music talent and rely on pitch correcting software to be palatable looks and singing ability do not go hand in hand.
So this is the 2nd time something like this has happened on this show, but on the American version....? I was curious and did a youtube search and came upon this: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/W8oR91K7gZ8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/W8oR91K7gZ8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> The same song the british guy, the cell phone salesman sang.
Nice, but am I the only one who feels like this might have been kind of a setup? IIRC, that opera guy from last year had actually had quite a bit of operatic instruction. It's not like he was just some salesman who sang in the shower.
