Morey is a smart man. He's not going to let anyone knows his plans. He said that having Yao return next season is their plan but I know something is up. Yao would help us contend but himself is not enough. Morey knows that. The Rockets knows that. But they're not going to say it. Morey isn't going to say he's chasing after Bron, Wade and Bosh this offseason. I think that he should stick with this team along with Yao back and drafting a good lottery player in the offseason. I don't think its a good trade if we would have to give up Scola, Hill, Battier, Brooks and a few first rounders. That would be giving up too much, basically our entire core for just one guy that's not even a superstar material. I questioned Bosh's toughness sometimes. He does put up great numbers and he isn't worth giving up that many assets for. I think Bosh and Amare are both overrated. Bosh is a better player but if we have to give up that many players, its not worth it. I rather have Scola than Amare any day of the year. Scola is a better player and he works hard on both ends. The reason why Amare seem so good is because Steve Nash assisted over 170 of his shots. The most in the NBA. So his production will go down without Steve Nash. Scola on the other hand doesn't really need someone to assist him, he's more crafty and has a better post game. Plus Scola would be cheaper than Bosh and Amare anyway. Scola doesn't have a big ego like those two and don't mind being the 3rd option. So I rather Morey just draft a good player this offseason, maybe make a few adjustments and just wait til the 2011 offseason. That one is much quieter and we have a chance to nab Carmello Anthony or Kevin Durant. One of those guys playing SF and having Ariza come off the bench would be great for this team. The Rockets would have Brooks, Martin, Durant or Melo, Scola and Yao (if healthy) in the starting line up. That is a deadly 5. All can score at will. Plus one of those guys can finally be the main go to guy in the crunch time. This offseason is nice but I rather wait til next year.
If not Durant, than going after Melo will do just fine. But I much rather the Rockets draft a young high potential SF that will one day become a superstar. You're right. Its hard to just acquire those type of talents. So most likely, the Rockets would have to draft a player.
Everything is going to be fine next year. Bet on it. “The thought of playing with [Yao] is the reason I have a big smile on my face,” Martin told Sporting News. “The attention he brings inside, that is going to be fun to have for me as a perimeter player. "I think there are going to be big expectations for next year, and I know in the offseason, I am going to be in the weight room, I am going to be here working out and trying to get better and better.”
