My company has decided to put in Surf Control and it is slowly but surely blocking me out of all kinds of places. I lost ESPN today, so I'll have to go elsewhere for my boxscores. Then, I lost the CF.net coverpage, but not the bbs. How much longer before they block the bbs? Once they do, I figure there are a couple ways I could go. I could call the network chick and ask her to unblock it. Of course, I don't have a business-related justification for it. I could tell my boss that my quality of life at the office has been impacted and threaten to quit if I don't get the bbs back. Problem here is that they probably won't be too sad to see me go. A third option might be to use VPN to remotely control my home computer and surf through that -- I wonder if that would work. The final option I can think of would be to use the time I would be on the bbs to conduct a job search. Do I have any other options? Which way should I go, if it comes to it?
Do you have Windows XP Pro on your home computer? If so, you can log into it (via remote desktop connection) without the need for VPN. From there you should be able to surf at will.
Get a job high enough up in the IT department so that you know how to add your website to the white list. Barring that, I'd start cutting deals under the table.
can you download a different brower like firefox or something? i am lucky where i work so i don't have that problem and i don't know exactly how they block the websites.
My home computer is behind a router, but my router will allow me to direct various protocols to various computers on my home network. For example, RDC could go to my downstairs desktop and FTP could go to an upstairs desktop.
