I didn't hear you guys complaining when Sura was grabbing 6 boards and dishing out 4 or 5 assists per game while hitting his fair share of baskets.

Come on people. The guy was arguably our best ball distributor. One of our top rebounders. Did all the dirty work. You want a role player? Hello?!?

Thank you. Please don't get rid of Sura. That guy's got heart, and I can see him put up big numbers on other teams against us, thats for sure.

Do you remember those left handed "floaters" he tossed up during games 3 and 4 agains the mavericks in crunch time?

For the most part, at least James contained him somewhat. Terry was blowing by Sura on a constant basis!

You think 1 off-season will heal the injuries of a 32 year old? I seriously doubt it!

The NBA is moving to a more athletic era. Look at the West, look at most teams in the League, exceot for SA and DET....and we all know we arent even close to being on their level! To win, WE MUST GET MORE ATHLETIC!

Once again, 1 off-season will not heal a 32 year olds injuries. He had all sorts of things wrong with him last year, so you think they will magically disappear? I think not!

What did he do in the most important games of our season? Games 6 and 7? What did he do in Games 3 and 4 besides dribble the shot clock out and shoot up some left handed floater?

Sura's a good, tough player with a reasonable short-term contract. He played well in games 1 and 2, then got the flu. He can play both 1 and 2, is a decent shooter, and great for team chemistry. Why get rid of him? He apparently did pretty well in atlanta at the 2, so it's not outrageous that we keep him for his versatility.

Well if you think he's not goint to be healthy then you wont have to worry or whine about him getting significant minutes at the 2 or any other position.

I actually think pairing someone like Damon S with him might work. DS is a scoring type of PG, Sura can be a 2 guy more responsible for setting up the offense. Each is kind of a hybrid and might be very complimentary to one another.

Remember last year we only had depth at guard after we had all our deals--Sura, Wesley, James and Barry. When they all were on the roster and healthy we were humming pretty good. To think none of these guys were available the early in the season and we had to give lots of minutes to Lue, Ward, Barret, Rod, etc. Sura ended up having to play so much 1 because before James the alternative were flat aweful. By the time James came along to help, Sura already had been broken. But next, keeping him to 28-32MPG, might not be a problem.

I'd feel fine going into the season with:
    PG DS, MJ, Head
    SG BS, JB, Head

That is so much better than what we had last year it is ridiculus.

In the above I assume it would probably cost Wesley and a 1st (or NY 2nd) to get DS given the full MLE going to Swift.

2 guard was sura's natural position before playing in houston.

He is older now, and injury prone. Plus I think J Terry showed Sura's weakness in the playoffs....NO quickness on D!

What's going on? Sura was much loved and generally regarded as our 3rd best player for much of the season (until the surgery). Now it seems that everyone wants him out. I don't get it. Was the Sura lovefest just anti-YOF backlash?

As a YOF - i really like Sura and think we should keep him. He's not expensive and, when healthy, was very serviceable as a starter.

If you don't adapt to the game you get left in shame.

Dude you need to calm the f down.

Sura was banged up a lot last season, and yes he had trouble guarding Terry during the playoffs, much more so than he would have if he had not been injured. However, thats one of the reasons we drafted Head, so that we'd have a defensive stopper in there to handle mismatches in quickness at either guard spot.

We depended a lot on Bobby last season and even in the playoffs, so to say he shouldn't be playing the 2 (where he won't have to be chasing around smaller, quicker point guards), as a backup off the bench or even at all is pretty absurd. If healthy, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him play the 2 alongside DS, as he does a lot of the little things to help this Rockets team win. A significant bench role would seem fitting as well, coming in to play either the 1 or 2.

Next time you decide to bust out your lil can of haterade, at least make sure you understand that in general, point guards are indeed quicker than 2's. Maybe then the rest of us won't have to be wondering to ourselves, "Do you know what you are talking about?? "

I think we are losing sight of the big picture - winning a championship. The Rockets are not going to advance in playoffs with Sura starting at the 2. That's worse than Wesley at the 2. The thinking has to be about putting together a team that can beat the Spurs.
