My guess is that he was doing what JVG asked of him or JVG would have sat him down. You think JVG wouldn't have noticed your observation? Sura was our only enforcer and he played his heart out. I applaud his season of guts and grit and welcome him back next year. Starting or coming off the bench.
Clearly this is the most important issue in this thread, yet it has been strangely overlooked... In order to make an informed decision, there are some essential variables to consider: 1. Has Yao recently been engaging in anything that can be (mis)construed as jibber jabber? In Chinese, or broken English? Within earshot of Mr. T? 2. Is this a Mr. T in his forty-pound chains, Penitentiary II prime, or a post-chemotherapy/laid off the gym/ 1-800 current T? 3. How many fouls does Yao have? Who's refereeing the fight? (i.e. what's Yao's current level of aggression/motivation)? 4. Has Mr. T recently purchased any more property in "Tree Town, USA"? That is, has Mr. T recently been logging? Is fatigue a factor? Will Mr. T be armed with a chainsaw? 5. Is Yao still tired from fighting Mr. T in the Chinese NT for the past three summers?
When Sura was healthy we were at our best. Rebounding was our biggest fault and B. Sura was arguably our best clutch rebounder...we missed him in the Dallas series. DD
BINGO. I think in the early stages of the season, they were being denied that initial entry pass, so they would swing around and let Yao establish position on the opposite side. So I wouldn't blame Sura too much, he's just running the called play.
I think he's played seriously sick or hurt. I would put money down that his minutes are way down b/c of that as well.
