    Here's a question.

Have any of these policies worked? Have kids from the less affluent areas become better students? Have kids from the wealthier schools become more aware of other races, cultures, and economic inequalities?

People don't like this ruling because to them the ends (integrated public schools) justifies the means (hypocritically saying where a person can or cannot go to school based on skin color)

It also should be noticed that the group of parents who brought this suit contained both white AND black parents. Basically they sued because the school district was preventing them from transferring their students to different schools solely because of their racial quotas.

Isn't ironic that the last thing people who oppose this ruling want is a colorblind society?

How does a policy that determines where you go to school based on your skin color prevent a color blind society? It does it by making decisions based on your skin color. What if there was a proposed rule that said all the black kids had to go to school A and all the white kids had to go to school B? Would that be okay? That is using the same means to achieve a different end. Instead, why not determine what schools people are assigned to without using skin color as a factor?

Look at the big picture. Imagine you grow up in an all white neighborhood with all white friends - no exposure to other races or cultures other than television.

You don't understand them, you've never associated with them, you have never talked to them.

How does that affect your ability to interact with other people not only of a different race but different socio-economic background?

It's this interaction that helps people become color blind. When they are not a mere image on a screen or a voice over the radio but an actual person who sits next to you in class.

are you saying the only way we can get along is if we all ignore all our differences and be the same? Are you saying the American human cannot tolerate difference?

That is a sad sad state of affairs

    Colorblind is a sad ideal

It is about noticing the differences. . . and it not mattering
    not
    about ignoring them

    I'm kewl with this ruling .. . .

Property taxes vary by locality. Also, in texas, they supreme court struck down the robin hood provisions which attempted to equally distribute local funds.
