Congress does have a role. They can initiate the constitutional amendment process. Good luck with that {sarcasm}.

Barring that, this is a state issue now. The president or members of congress can blather on and make statements, but it is up to the state legislators and governors to pass the laws on this now.

The disinformation will always be there so that's not very hopeful. We'll have a bunch of people claiming to be libertarians all while rooting and cheering for the state to take more and more individual rights.

Unfortunately, we also have to account that many Americans WANT this, they want a fascist dictator to impose their ideology on others, so it's not just misinformation, but people are also dishonest. They'll tell you they are for gay rights, women rights, etc etc then go ahead and support people who are for taking them away.

Voters turn out when there is a strong emotional reason to do so. Trump was one. Perhaps abortion rights will be another. Republicans always turn out. Dems need to vote at the state and federal level

Nook is right, this isn't over.

Already there's a case building that this ruling is against what Jewish people believe about abortion. I imagine this will make its way up to SCOTUS again and we are going to see how they feel about protecting minor religions and their beliefs.

Why do you hope so? Are you against gay people?

Why? How in the hell does gay marriage negatively affect you or any other person?

Try and answer with words not cartoons.

    Right.

You do realize that the Supreme Court is a dynamic institution and that they do change their opinions - and the political ramifications of elected officials at the federal level is something that is taken into consideration when people vote. Not to mention that any decorum concerning appointments to the court or activities by the Court no long exist.

Even you, Mr. Cartoon should understand that.

That doesn't even get into the illegal market for abortions that will open up AND the fact that we live in a very connected world where well educated and versed young people will see that the rest of the first world has protections and rights that the USA does not have, and will push for similar rights here.

The level of simplicity that you exhibit is amazing.

I am so sorry for all the women on here and just women in general; can't believe these people have control over your own body and what to do with it.

I remember health care brought out voters one midterm. Maybe this decision will motivate them for 2022.

Sounds like many private companies are stepping up to provide funding for out of state abortion trips so this may not have the impact many are anticipating.

    Is this real?

It took leaving Texas to realize just how crazy Texas politics is........ and I say that as someone that is in Chicago, which is the land of corruption and insane political operations.... and I have to say, Texas is actually worse. I didn't think it was possible, but the state of Texas at the state level is worse than Chicago politics.

At least in Chicago it is just flat out corruption and not Hand's Maid's Tale level **** with incompetence.

Why isn't Paxton in jail? At least in Chicago they actually send the politicians to prison.

    They will ban that too.

Christian law dictates no abortions under any circumstances and all things gay are evil. Ironic that Sharia law came down upon America in this form.
