Actually, now that I think about it more, I want the Supreme Court to take up the issue. It's ridiculous that we can go over 200 years without defining what a natural-born citizen is. Since the objections to Obama's eligibility would get shellacked anyway, we may as well go through the motions and put a precedent on the books.

The sad part is that people really do say that and mean it.

I dunno the president having an affair in the oval office is a bit bigger deal than this. It basically gave them the ability to have hardcore sex discussion. The media loves that. Legal questions and possible racism accusations are not so sexy to bring up.

I thought the one previous case that dealt with a presidential election was frivolous and desperate and stood no chance. This Supreme Court thought differently.

That issue wouldn't come up in this particular appeal - anyway there is precedent in there from early last century.

There's no question of "naturally born" - the same thing that determines him to be a U.S. Citizen (his HI birth certificate) determines that he is natural born.

The question is valid of McCain, however. Nobody has definitively addressed for the purposes of Article II whether or not a military base constitutes natural born.

See above - these goofballs with the lawsuit aren't getting anywhere because of unclear precedent, they're just refusing to admit reality. HI birth certificate = HI birth certificate. Game over.

Why lock up the original birth certificate in the first place? It is perfectly legitimate to question the validity of Obama's citizenship. The fact that this issue is being handled with such secrecy only fuels the conspiracy theory. I would think that the president-elect would want this resolved as quickly as possible.

However, this does sound like alot of sour grapes. Does anyone seriously doubt that the Clinton's would have argued this point if it were true?

If it is true, it was terribly irresponsible of the entire Democrat party to allow it to get this far. I have to seriously doubt the validity of it, but I do support the effort to have the original birth certificate be added to the public record. The office of the presidency deserves that respect.

Why not have him take a lie detector test?

Why not have him swear on a bible stacked on top of a torah stacked on top of a Quran?

Why not have him engage in a medieval jousting contest?

Answer: Because he has provided legally sufficient proof already. Probably more so than any of his predecessors

    GAME OVER.

Sorry but there is not one set of rules for black presidents with funny names and another set of rules for white dudes.

Not a bad idea if it puts an end to these frivilous lawsuits.

Accept it, he will be president, and quit saying he will be shot.

Honestly though, if this was the biggest coverup in history, and it came to light before he is sworn in, would Biden be President?

It was a legitimate question until he provided valid legal proof already. Then it stopped being a legitimate question.

If I'm going to a bar and they card me, I might use my driver's license. I'm not hiding anything because I don't also show them my passport. I used a valid form of ID. The case is closed.

Maybe we'll be treated to the sight of all these plantiffs piling into a clown car to seek writ of certiorari from John Roberts, so he can hear more about this magnificent criminal conspiracy between Barack Obama's parents, Hawaii state officials, the Weather Underground, and the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company to one day plant Obama in the Oval Office.

The "natural born" clause was clearly included to preclude those who were not naturally born, your witches and other spawns of Satan. The framers certainly didn't want to have to throw a sitting president int the river to see if he floats.

Exactly. There are so many idiots out there. If you show passport would they also require another document, etc.

I've had that happen where I showed a passport and they asked for a drivers license. You can't get much more official than a passport, but I suppose they didn't have confidence in spotting a conterfeit.

What was the proof he provided? I'm not trying to further any point of view. I'm legitimately interested.

I still don't understand the secrecy of it. I have routinely produced my birth certificate for a miriad of reasons.
