I'm struggling big with eating the right things, but I have cut back. My schedule is pretty hectic right now (other than the sedentary 8 hours a day at work) so I am running from school to work to school to the gym. I start coaching volleyball again next week, so that should help me get more time in exercising. I like to play the games and do drills with the girls (of course that is going to be more difficult this season as I am coaching 5th graders). FB, I have been doing horrible counting points since I started school. I need to get back on track. The good thing is I am still loosing, just really slowly (less than a pound a week). I haven't reached my 10% yet either, but the goal is by the last week of August to get there. I'm pretty close right now.
Went to the gym today and did more cardio. I had family in town for 4th of July, and they treated us to dinner the entire weekend (my mother-in-law likes to be generous), so eating-wise things were pretty bad (but delicious) for me. Played about 2 hours of basketball on Saturday, so I've been doing a good job of staying active. I forgot to weigh in today but I'll do it tomorrow.
Lost another 1.8 pounds this week. Brings my total to ~5. I've really been stepping up the exercise. Nice long hike on Saturday and then on Sunday we went to Galveston and swam. My pecs are so effing sore. Everything's worth it though. I have such renewed energy when I work out.
Keep it up everyone! It is for a good cause... you! (OK, that was a bad; I'm not very good w/ the rah-rah cheerleader stuff.)
So it's been about a month now since this has started. How is everyone? I've lost a total of 5lbs so far. The last 3lbs really started flying off once I started being a lot more careful with what I eat. Haven't been able to get in as much cardio as I would like, but I've still been doing good. My wife started counting calories this week as well and she lost a couple.
I was thinking of starting a new weight-loss thread for Clutchfans that might want a New Years Resolution to lose weight, but I thought about this thread. Is anyone interested? If so, how do you want to do it? I was thinking of a Monday weigh-in thread and I would keep track of it on Google Docs, or we can join Hayesfan's group on 50 Million Pound Challenge. Any other ideas?
I can't help you with the particulars of your thread, but I wanted to share something with all the clutchfans that want to get back in shape as a New Year's resolution. I've been lucky enough to have a free membership to a very nice gym in River Oaks for the past year, but in two days that will expire. I know that 24-Hour Fitness is the devil to some people (if you let them draw from your bank account it can be a pain to cancel!) but I like it because they have lots of amenities (swimming, steam rooms, basketball, etc.) and my friends all have memberships. So I was looking online for deals today and I came across this. 24 Hour Fitness 2-year Membership It's a certificate that you purchase form Costco that is good for a 2-year membership to all 24 Hour "Sport" locations (as well as all lower level gyms). It's only $299.99 total ($15 extra if you're not a Costco member)! That's just $13 a month As far as I know, you never have to give your bank account info or a credit card, but instead you just walk in and have this certificate activated by a club associate. Unfortunately you can't renew at that rate, but by the time it expires you never know what kind of new deal you might find somewhere. I'm not sure how much longer they'll have the deal, but I got on it today just in case it's ending after the new year.
I'm in, wes. I think it would be cool for us to do a Monday weigh-in thread. I'm down 22 pounds since summer.
i'm down. i've totally let myself go. i'm not fat perse, just have a lot of fat on me now. i think it would be more incentive to post starting and progress pics. not sure how many would be do it though. even i have reservations about it...lol.
I've put on almost 10 pounds since Thanksgiving, so I'm definitely in.* *As long as we don't start until Monday.....
We can do it either way... and I am in. I haven't been keeping track on the 50 million pound thing, but I will if that's where we decide to keep dibs. I think I need a way to keep track of the exercise I am doing... and not doing. Shan are you still doing WW?
I've been planning to eat better, exercise, drink less, and quit smoking. This is all starting on Monday, so I'm gonna be a real a-hole for a couple of weeks. But I'm down with this.
Yup. I skipped last week though because my mom convinced me that it would be depressing for us to see the scale this week. Aaaand today was her 60th birthday party, so of course I've been a bit negligent in my eating habits. Plus we're going to Taste of Texas (a steakhouse) tonight. I won't have steak but they have the most kickass salad bar with fresh cheddar and jack blocks and amazing bread...so yeah. It all starts Jan. 1st!
