I put up an ad for a cashier. Pay starts at $8 an hour. Easy job. I get this call from an effing r****d who asks me why i am paying so low for cashier. Claims that mcdonalds will pay him $8.25 an hour. Says hes entitled to at least that since mcdonalds will give him that. I tell him to piss off and go work there then. He calls me back and says that since minimum wage will be $9 an hour in ny in a year, thats how much he should get paid now.

Seriously what kinda idiots are being raised these days? I couldnt have ever imagined making a call like that when i was 20.

This all happens right during the rox game too

You are mad at an enterprising young man who is trying to negotiate a better wage?

Come on man, respect for him for trying - no harm in asking.

Yes because one phone call represents a "supid" generation.

There are all kinds of people out there. You need to learn to ignore them strategically.

Are you sure he wasn't trolling you to make the point that $8.25 an hour is too low for minimum wage? Especially with recent food worker protests.

    His negotiation tactic:

"This not right. You pay so little, like you taking advantage. Mcdonalds pays 8.25. You should start me off at there since i could get that from them."

Uhhh, I don't see the problem here. He is negotiating a wage as DD mentioned. You can't negotiate for a cashier position?

Meh, probably no more stupid or entitled than the baby boomer generation that ruined his generation's future.

You should scream and belittle him. And then say how awesome your generation is.

Sounds like a sharp kid. You obviously should hire a kid who doesn't give a **** rather than the kid that does. Smart move.

Actually for minimum wage jobs it's better to hire the less intelligent ones. Many of the smarter/younger workers know that these jobs are easy to get so they'll start stealing and scamming.

I plan on demanding $10-$12 an hour for my vastly important internship this summer which will consist of entering data in spreadsheets and printing things for people

1 person does this, and you call the entire generation "supid."

Uh, bro, I think you're "supid" for not even having an average sample size to go off of.

The dude was asking for .25 more per hour. Seriously, a whole quarter. Is that extra $2 extra a days really worth ****ting on an entire generation?
