I think t_mac1 point is that just because you won the game doesn't mean you did everything right and that there could be things you could have done better. I get what you're as long as the game is won it doesn't matter how it was won because a win is a win.

umm... watch our offense from games 1-3.
    1) each and every game, our fg% is GOING DOWN -> good trend.
    2) our points per game is GOING DOWN -> good trend
    3) 3pt defense AND attempts going down -> good trend

those good trends are "good" for the blazers. so yes, nate will stick with his defensive gameplan. they're a young team. sometimes, adjustments to them are: execution, confidence, and gain more experience.

so again, why adjust something when that thing "works?" slowing yao down will slow this team down (just like if you slow every team's best player down, you slow that team down. that's a common concept).

so what portland has a problem with right now is SCORING THE BALL. that's where nate's adjustments will come from.

DD, read my post above. defensively, portland has gotten better every game. so they'll stick with their defensive gameplan.

EVERY team adjusts after every game, win or lose. you're a fool if you don't think any coach adjusts. but you fix things you did bad in, not something if it works.

for portland, adjustments will come on offense. how do they get roy more open and into the high pick and roll more often involving yao? how do they get aldridge to recognize the defensive schemes and not think too much about double teams? how do they get better screens for their shooters for 3s? offensively, there are A TON of adjustments for portland to be made.

and to your point, every team focuses on shutting down the team's best player rather than the team's role players. why? role players are role players for a reason. they'll slow down over a 7 game series (and they slowly are as our offense was the worst in game 3). so portland will continue to focus on yao and slowing him down, just like we focus on slowing roy and aldridge down. you think we're going to start focusing on blake after a good game?

yes we shouldn't care about stats. you shouldn't care about how many shots we get. but you should care that we struggled offensively in game 3. we struggled to get into our sets at times and got a little frustrated in the 2nd half. you want to get better in EVERY playoff game (like the cavs are) and develop a consistency/rhythm/swagger. and this trend of yao getting fronted and how it's easily to take him out of a game will cost us, sooner or later. i'm sure adelman feels the same way.

    Are you for real?

Our points per game are going down because we're playing the SAME TEAM OVER AND OVER.

Adjustments get made, and as any playoff series wears on, the amount of points a team scores decreses. It's just what happens. The players get more and more accustomed to those they are facing, and play better against them.

But if our WORST game so far has resulted in 48.33% from inside the arc - then there's not too much to worry about.
Oh, and take away Yao from the equation, and the supporting cast shot 51% from the field in that particular game (game 3).

How can you say their defense has been "great" just because it's nullified Yao? Basically they can stop 1 guy, but the team is absolutely coasting on offense, scoring at 50%+ from the field...

Nate's still got a little problem with his defence - unfortunately for him he also has a little problem with our defence.

If a team shoots 50% from the field it means they still miss half their shots. So of course, during the course of a basketball game, there will be a period that a team struggles.

It's just how long the struggle lasts.

the reason our overall point total was down was a slower pace of game in game 3, and a heckuva lot of fouls by the Blazers. Every foul slows the pace of a slow game again.

Their defence (so far) has NOT been great.
Perhaps they'll adjust for game 4? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

can i ask if you actually watched this game or were you just googling to find something to justify one of yao's weaknesses?
