Prince would be a good solid pick up...but i dont think it is a necessary move ya know...i think hes better than all sfs options (bud, ariza, battier)...but not a significant upgrade you know...

I think we make a move on melo, granger, josh smith, gerald wallace...or we dont move them unless another elite player comes up.

I just dont see a need worth sacrificing the picks for...just keep hoping on melo or stand pat...ya know

i seriously dont get the infatuation with trading for a superstar SF...or a star SF for that matter.

This isn't Team USA, where salaries arent taken into account. On the court i'm sure it would be great to have one, but there's two routes to take:

    1) give up "assets" and keep the core

    2) give up some core players

#1 gives us the most talent, but also the biggest payroll. Keeing in mind that we're not going to have 5 guys averaging 25 a game, you'll be wasting all kinds of cash and talent and setting yourself up to lose the young guys when they're up for extensions

#2 gives up talent, but keeps the payroll in better shape and the talent will be used to it's fullest....this i think is fine, however, it's going to trigger threads asking to fill the "star" hole left and it'll be a never ending cycle.

If you want a superstar, be ready to give up a lot and see holes created.

Let's just roll with this group first, it may surprise a lot of people.

Carmelo is a free agent next year...there is a possibility he would be nothing more than a half year rental on a heavily depleted Rockets team before he splits to NY. Chris Paul is the better long-term option.

From what I have seen of his form this off season I think it would behoove the Rockets to get 'Iggy', as long as we don't have to break our core or take on a very bad contract.
With Iggy we might just find ourselves jumping from 9th in the West to No 1 in the West and fighting the big trio in the Championships!!!!!! :p

    Imagine

    Brooks, Lowery
    Martin, Lee
    Iggy, Budinger
    Scola Patterson
    Yao Ming, Miller

So strong that no player will over play in the regular season! :p

By next year, we'll already have a Battier replacement and at a bargain price. His name is Chase Budinger.

I totally don't get this thread....do we need a superstar SF because we are still haunted by the ghost of what could have been(Tmac) or because Lebron is a SF?

I mean the list of true superstar 3s(under 30) goes Lebron, Durant, and Melo and I don't think any of those guys are realistically attainable. The secondary list includes Iggy, Granger, Roy, and Gay....but I don't think you mortgage the future on any of those guys. I think Roy is too much of an injury risk to depend on...Gay is really just a scorer, Iggy is decent, but I prefer Granger of all those guys because he seems to have a skill set that will serve him well as he ages. Iggy is more athletic and I think that's exactly why you stay away from him because those types of guys tend to decline a bit later into their careers. After that your just talking role players who may be better than what we have, but probably only marginally (Prince, Deng, etc).

I think our best bet at a wing superstar right now is through lottery and picking up young talent. The list of younger guys who are good is pretty short and the "paid like a max player, but clearly 2nd class on talent" list isn't anything that's going to win you a title automatically. I think this team just needs a superstar who is a leader - period....doesn't matter if they are a PG, SG, SF, PF, etc....and those types of players are in short supply. I think you stay competitive and keep cycling through young talent until you find that player but it's a lot of luck.

No Melo. He is a 'thug'.

This team only has room for classy players.

    Jeffries
    Hill
    Budinger
    $6.5M TPE
    Picks

    for

    Iguodala
    Nocioni

(This would actually be two separate trades, but you get the idea)

I'd do that, but I don't think Philly would. I don't think the Sixers are actively shopping AI, and I think the only way you're gonna get him for expirings is by taking back some bad contracts (probably Brand).

Still something I'd love to see happen.

I'd still like to see Iggy in a Rockets uniform. I think he'd be a great fit with his passing, defense and playmaking. He's such a complete player. The team would be a real contender with him.
