I've had quite a few weird things happen in my life -- this one was extremely bizarre... A friend and I were walking down Barton Creek one night to meet a group hanging out at a place called Sculpture Falls. It was late, maybe 11 or so on a summer night with a really bright moon. We came around a slight bend on a part of the trail that was pretty heavy with brush on each side. We were walking fast down the trail when suddenly something starts matching us stride for stride in the brush. It startled us and we had the typical WTF is that reaction and stopped looking into the weeds. The moment we stopped whatever was in the brush stopped as well and didn't make a sound. We assumed it was a medium size dog, raccoon, maybe a cat, but it was absolutely silent as we tried to find it peering into weeds. We started walking again and the moment we did it started stride for stride with us again -- we went another 15 or 20 feet then stopped cold again -- the moment we stopped it stopped. What was so crazy was that it was noisily moving next to use close enough to the trail were we could actually see the weeds moving so we knew exactly were it was, but we couldn't see a thing. We started throwing stuff at the spot were it last moved, but there was nothing not a sound. Now of course we were getting tripped out a bit and I guess that creepy feeling of being stalked hit us -- plus the fact that something was just not right about the way the thing moved and stopped so quickly. Normally an animal will instantly dart off and you'll hear as it takes off especially if you stop and look right where it last moved. Anyways we started to walk again and the thing starts rustling along side us -- again -- loudly just a few feet away. We are openly trying to figure out what it is staring into the brush as we walk watching the weeds move and not seeing a thing. My friend finally just yells and jumps into the brush in the exact spot were the thing last moved and there is nothing. Not a single sound -- he stomps around in about a 5 foot radius and there isn't anything there. Nothing runs off -- just a weird silence and a strange surreal feeling. There are a million logical explanations, but we couldn't figure out for the life of us what was moving along that trail. It was never a situation where we were scared, but it was very unsettling to not even catch a glimpse of anything or hear it run off.
One of you probably got caught on a string or something and dragged it along with you. You should have walked opposite ways ( you and your friend) to see who it would follow.
