I think they had it, but it's not that important. I'm pretty sure they don't use it on the animated series or JLU.
Looks like the 'S' was on the cape at least since the 50s. I can't tell from the images if it was there prior to that. http://theages.superman.ws/History/VersionIII.php
If Spider-Man can have "organic" web-shooters without the movie sucking, I can probably get past the lack of an 'S' on the cape.
Take that Fox! ...well the only thing that means anything is the bottom line so hopefully it makes a ton at the box office.
just got back from a screening tonight... Singer picked up where Donner let off after the original Superman... it is a great homage to the original and they stayed true to the franchise... there were even some direct references, dialogue wise, and even a few shots/sequences that were re-created shot by shot... two thumbs way up
I agree. It's strange; it's almost like a sequel to the originals and yet a setup/beginning for a new franchise all at once. If you are a fan of the old ones, you'll love it. (Freak, you are going to love the opening) Be aware, though, that it, kind of like Batman Begins, is a little lighter on the action sequences that we'll probably see in sequels/from here on out. It's clear that with the tech they have now the over-the-top action of a Superman movie is going to be outstanding, but this movie still dwells on telling the backstory/filling in the blanks between the old movies and this one. I think it is a good balance. There are links/references to Superman I and II in this movie, along with plenty of homages to the Reeves character and the classic comic books. I think I'd place the new Batman just above this, and the Spidey movies are at the point where they are better for straight action, but Superman Returns is well done. Hope it does well, 'cause Singer would do great, great things with the sequels.
Pretty awesome movie, I liked it. I almost thought it was too long, but I have a pretty short attention span.
saw an early late showing last night and it was awesome. when the opening credits flew by i knew i was in for a treat. now to see it again this weekend in imax 3d
Yeah, for some odd reason I was never a big fan of superman like others. He is too power like you say.
Don't waste your time in the IMAX 3D. If anything it was so annoying. There are only like 4 scenes you use the glasses and it gave me a headache. I'm waiting to go see it in regular format so I can actually see what's going on in those 3D scenes. Though the rest of the movie was awesome because it wasn't IMAX 3D.
i gotta say i thought it was not that good and at times quite boring. i don't need action all the time, but both the beginning and end seemed to have stretches where basically nothing happened. i mean i need some jokes or some plot advancing or something. maybe i just missed it. plus, even when they had action, i just couldn't get into it. superman catches this or that person, or stops an object from falling, or does whatever superpower is needed. i felt they could've come up with more innovative ways to include his powers. i can't think of any, but that's become i'm amazingl uncreative and i'm not getting paid to come up with movie ideas. definitely more story than action like spiderman so i thought some people might like it, but i just thought it fell flat way too often. but hey, i like the superman idea/series, so i hope it does well anyway.
i guess no edit on draft night. and i agree with Yall Mean an DarkHorse, he does seem too powerful. even when he's weakened it doesn't seem to matter.
One thing I didn't see or maybe didn't catch is there didn't seem to be a scene at the end that would signify there would be another superman or to give us an idea of who or what may be in the next movie. No sign of a villain or storyline or anything. Do they have other movies in line to be made?
I saw it this morning on the IMAX 3D and althought I did enjoy the 3D parts of the movie, I don't think its worth the $11.50 i payed to watch those parts in 3D. Its a cool expierence, don't get me wrong, but they got other movies coming out later in the year, mostly computer animated flicks, that will ALL be in 3D. Plus the manager said that Spiderman 3 will be 3D when it comes out next year. As for the movie, it was fantastic. I need to go watch the first 2 movies cause I barely remember them. I wish we had a spoiler filled thread to discuss further more but still good. btw, did Kal Penn SAY A WORD in the movie? Seems he played the smart asian that works for the villian
The movie was great, but it was kinda too long. I asked my friend that same question. Kal Penn is asian?
