Where was the holding on that play? The reciever is holding that DB and allowing Ben to dive forward.

    Poorly officiated game....poorly.

This game was decided 2 weeks ago. Totally fixed game and one sided officiating! Feel bad for Seattle and their fans.

How big are those two missed FGs now for Seattle?

Eh, say what you will about the refs, but Seattle had its chances. If there was a pivotal, controversial call made (like the overturned interception in Pit v Indy) I'd agree. There have been some pivotal calls, some close. But nothing to suggest Seattle got robbed by poor officiating. Maybe if this was the home team, I'd be singing a different tune, but too many times people jump all over officials when the team simply didn't play well enough to win.

As bad as the officiating was, Seattle didn't deserve to win this one based on their clock management at the end of both halves.

    that game was a disappoinment.

    it had its moments.

It had potential for a good finish atleast, but man Seattle screwed that up.

This was a poorly played and officiated game, but Big Ben made some key plays that won't show up in the boxscore. He's a heady player and surprisingly nimble out there. Hassleback had better stats, but he looked overmatched.

Anyway, screw the Steelers. Now we're on to the draft!

I was just worried at the end that the Seahawks would score a TD +1 making it a 3 point game. But my -3 line bet on the Steelers paid off well. Seahawks got OWNED!

Thanks to a practically phantom holding call that negated a first and goal at the one, a probably touchdown and a Seahawk lead.

But I'm glad for Cowher and Bettis! :D

I'm not from Pittsburgh, but the Steelers were my team back in the 70s, even before they were good. I'm glad they won for Rooney & Cowher. Good way for The Bus to end it, too. I forgive him for going to Notre Dame.

I've finally realized that the superbowl and superbowl parties are overrated. Also, many people will miss work tomorrow and many others will get a DWI tonight.

    Overrated.

Yeah especially with such a snoozer of a matchup like this one was. It's much better to sit in front of the tv and trade futures contracts on the game during the action than having to be cramped and uncomfortable at somebody else's place.

i went into the game hoping i would care about the outcome one way or the other (this is the first super bowl in a long time where i didn't either hate or like at least one team) and i just really didn't. it didn't help that it may have been the most boring super bowl of all time, far worse than even a blowout. no one had any sort of big stats to suggest they had a big game. pittsburgh did have two big plays including a nice trick play and seattle had a long int return, but none of them seemed that awesome. i guess b/c it was just all surrounded by a typical, middle of the season nfl game, where nothing much happens but punting and mediocre offense. and now a few other comments.

who the hell intercepted the ball for seattle and why was he so slow? i don't remember him having to slow down to wait for any blocks to develop and he got caught easily, and at the freakin' 30. hell, one of the offensive lineman almost caught him and randle-el was running sideways when he made the tackle he was so far ahead of the guy.

the officials. wow, if i were a seattle fan i would be absolutely pissed. a bad offensive pass interference call, a weird holding call on the pass down to the 1, and then the damn blocking below the waist thing on hasselback's tackle? i mean the hasselback penalty didn't even mean that much b/c it was already intercepted, but the qb makes an amazing tackle and they hit you with a 15 yard penalty that is absolutely ridiculous. it seemed like there were several other weird calls that went against seattle. oh yeah, the fumble where hasselback was already down. it didn't help that seattle was dropping passes everywhere and screwed up the end of the game, but they should've had that first TD (which would've made a huge difference). oh, i just remembered, big ben's touchdown where he may or may not have broken the plane. but of course it was rule in pitt's favor on the field and the replay was so close that they couldn't overturn it. a whole bunch of stuff that could've turned this game around.

the end of the game. this just reaffirms my opinion that football players and coaches are the dumbest people on the planet when put in end of game situations. it is absolutely amazing the brain cramps people get. 3 huge pet peeves i have:

    1) letting too much time run in between plays when you have to score quickly. this was perfected by the eagles in last year's super bowl. i even commented that i wondered if seattle was going to run the eagles' two minute drill, and damned if they didn't. seattle had to score twice and yet after their first play they let 20 seconds run off. smooth.

    2) running short plays that gain almost nothing. seattle's first play was a 6 yard pass over the middle. brilliant. 6 yards at a time should get it done. i don't care if that's what the D is giving you b/c of course that's what the D is giving you. they love that play.

    3) dumbass plays that keep the clock running when you absolutely cannot afford that. what the hell was that 3rd down play? first of all they should've kicked the damn field goal and then tried the onside kick if they made it so that play should've never happened. but what was that play? lets throw a 2 yard out to the tight end with his back to the defense going sideways. could you pick a worse scenario. gee, we need yards, lets throw it short. we need to move the ball, so lets give it to a slow guy. we have to get out of bounds if we don't score, so lets throw it away from the sideline to a guy who isn't nimble and is covered. oh, what a shock, he got tackled in bounds. tight ends never have their legs taken out on those plays do they? what was that play going to accomplish? it's like they were just setting up for the field goal anyway. just kick the ****ing field goal if you're going to run that. and if you're hasselback, you can't throw to that route. horrible coaching, horrible qb'ing, horrible everything. for that alone, i'm glad they lost. you should suffer for that kind of blatant disregard for logic and thinking.

a seattle score could've salvaged some sense of suspense or excitement but it was fitting for this super bowl. two very boring teams that no one had any real strong feelings about (at least no one i know), a very boring game, and a boring batch of commercials. all around a disappointment.

Yeah, fueling primal adrenaline rushes are much better than actual human interaction. :p
