I have a serious question because I havent owned a Nintendo system in quite a while and have yet to ever even see a smash bro. game played. What is the hype about it? My friends that have the Wii are all googly moogly over it. So, what is it about the game that draws so many? From a totally naive perspective, all I see is a fighting game with cartoony graphics. The hype around this game makes me want to buy a Wii and start waiting in line on Dec. 2nd to pick up a copy of the game.
I guess its the fact that its one of the only games of its kind and it combines all of the characters that have made a name for themselves in their own games. I figured Sonic would be in the game. There is a game called Mario vs Sonic in the olympics coming out soon. I cant wait though.
all they need to do now is add Crash Bandicoot and fanboys all over the world might have to change their pants.
Pi-Ka-CHUUUUUUUUUUU...love zapping people with him. Fox was also one of my favorites, and of course mario kicked butt. i dont know what it was about the game...it's just flat out fun! There is no other way to explain it.
Dude, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is in the game! For disciples of the 16-bit generation, there is no bigger event than Mario and Sonic getting together. Crash who? As for the appeal, it's quite an addictive and solid fighting game, but I've always been drawn to the nostalgia and detail they put into recreating the backgrounds, music, items and the like. Yeah, call me a dork but I love all the nods to the past games (totally geeking out for the direct-from-SNES graphics on the Yoshi's Island level).
Nintendo needs to create a Theater component to this game similar to the one in Halo 3. I would love to be able to re-view some of my more spectacular kills from any angle.
I've never played the game, but the excitabike character has me nostalgic, for sure. I used to love that game. I need to see Q, bert, Frogger, the Spaceship from Defender and I would be totally amped for this title.
i guess ness wasn't popular enough. would've loved to see the "SMAAAAASSSHHH!!!" with a baseball bat in this game. agree with anti on the bandicoot comment. simon from castlevania or wart from mario 2 maybe?
They subtracted Ness but added Lucas who is from the same series but in a game that only had a release in Japan. I liked Ness but I prefer to play as Link. My 7 year old can whip anyone in our neighborhood playing any character on SSBM.
I hope they bring back Ganondorf. He was my favorite character. They need to add more bad guys like Wolf, Starfox's rival and the Black Shadow, Captain Falcons rival.

Then how about: Super Mario Galaxy Guitar Hero III Mario Kart Wii Battalion Wars II Soul Calibur Legends Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles Wii Fit ... and so on I mean, c'mon, there are 86 Wii games alone scheduled to be released for this holiday season. And if you still haven't picked up Metroid Prime: Corruption, Super Paper Mario, or Zelda, well, that's 3 more games worth getting right there. Oh, and then there's this little thing called Virtual Console...
