MPJ might be a straight up better player than Vic right now. Pretty insane but it might just be true. I'd still trade Vic and PJ to Denver though even without MPJ. Nanji, Hampton, Bolbol, Monte Morris are all decent and young and they have all their picks.
Ahh that's a good point. Maybe that's what Rafael initially saw when he was looking at Oladipo. He is a sublime fit for the Nuggets when healthy, and we can offer all expiring contracts, and even grease the deal If we need to.
I said it at the time of the trade. MPJ was a target between the trade and the deadline. That’s not a guess. I am not sure how they could make it happen but he was the primary target.
Yeah it was publicly reported before the deadline. MPJ and Bagley the only source confirmed guys that Stone wanted that I can remember.
I was told about the Oladipo and draft pick portion of the trade before it happened. The follow up was they would evaluate and then target MPJ. No idea if that’s still a thing or plans changed but that was the plan.
I hope you have some good intel there man... MPJ and C-Wood would be so damn fun to watch grow together. Seems like EG and VO are great fits for them.
The intel was good on that day but I imagine a lot changes by the day. I just can’t see it as much as I’d love MPJ. Honestly I’d give up 3 protected FRP to get him here.
I don't know why in the world Denver would do a trade like that unless they had major interest in cap space this summer. MPJ is young with modern baller potential. Dipo is damaged goods with no future.
That's the current narrative on Oladipo. Let's see what happens in early March. He has shown flashes of his former self.
Even his former self wasn't as good as KPJ is likely to become. This would be a horrendously dumb move, IMO, unless they were getting ready to have to pay someone this summer (which they might be, actually... is Murray still on a rookie contract?). Not sure what other contracts they have that they can give up to match, though.
Sheesh. I hope KPJ is as you say. Victor has had multiple better NBA games than KPJ has had GLeague games this year.
His ego like that because he knows he’d be averaging 25+ ppg on his own team. And after he criticized his team in the playoffs last year they played much better. He’s literally a perfect prospect, only thing about him that is a gamble is his back.
I mean the dude is 20 and hasn't played a year of proffesional ball. At 19 KPJ has far more fluid natural effortless ball skills and agility than Olidipo at 19.
Even if this happened there would still be a lot more work to be done roster wise for this team to even be a good playoff type team.
At this point you gotta just bring up KPJ and give him minutes. Not making the playoffs with this team and its injuries anyway.
