no one made a ruckus about the war based game Medal of Honor which has depicted passed World War II battles such as Omaha Beach. well, maybe someone really did. i just didn't hear anything about it.
There's a difference between a battle in a war that took place 60 years ago and a mass murder that took place in a high school 7 years ago.
Here's the Sudan game: http://www.darfurisdying.com/ It was apparently made for a game-design contest with a darfur theme. Obviously, it is different in that you play the victim instead of the aggressor here, but I think the general idea is the same. Reminds me of a game I saw waaaaay back in college (say around 1995), made by a graduate student of Latin American studies in which you were the dictator of a small Caribbean country and your goal was to last as long as possible (you "won" after 10 years, I think) without falling victim to a military coup, US invasion, rebellion or other political instability. It was designed to help people understand how hard it is for small third world countries to remain on an even keel. That game was still the best I've seen in this genre.
you get WWII games where you shoot the enemy dont see much fuss about them, and its also based on real events.
No, I haven't heard of Shadow President, but I googled some screenshots, and it looks like similar gameplay. I wish I could remember the name of that game I used to play. The JuanValdez moniker was born playing that game.
I post a lot. You're gonna have your work cut out for you if you are going to post about your beloved Britney in all of them. Good luck.
I've played JFK: Reloaded. The point of the game wasn't really just try and kill the president. It was more like trying to prove if Lee Harvey Oswald could have acted alone. It was more about the conspiracy than just killing the president. Atleast that's how I saw it.
so you're implying it would be okay to make a video game of Columbine 53 years from now, just by virtue of time alone?
How about just eliminating all RPGs from the earth? Even better, all video games. At least our kids wouldn't be so overweight...
That boy will take a lot of flak for elevating mindless children's games into art. American culture is at fault. We're telling him that video games aren't supposed to be like that. Just like when people heard of the movie based on the 9/11 flight. "It's too soon!" Now most people are okay with it because it was "done tastefully". What a load of crap. People just want things around them to follow the way they think and for everything else to **** off.
I don't cotton to that kind of talk ma'am. Actually when I was a kid I was geeky enough to play a lot of RPG's. They are great for problem solving, imagination, cooperation, logical reasoning, etc. I would encourage any kid to play them. I also played many sports, and was inolved in a ton of physical activities. Not exercising wasn't an option for me.
its completely their parents fault. spoiling the crap out of these kids, no discipline. if you are parents and you cant figure out that your kids dress like losers and have machine guns in their garage, then you should go to jail too.
