Sorry, I'm not a football expert exactly, but how does a deflated ball help a team that has Tom Brady throwing the ball everywhere and with an opposing quarterback who has at least as strong an arm?

Is the idea that you *practice* with flaccid balls (!) and have an advantage that way? LOL.

Deflated footballs are easier to hold on to which helps in wet conditions. If the pats were deflating the balls they were using, they'd have an advantage over the Colts who were using fully inflated balls. It wouldn't account for the difference in the game though, there was no need to cheat if that's what they did.

Thanks, Bobbythegreat. I thought both teams used the same set of footballs. Shows what I know.

Does Belichick sit around all day thinking of things like this?

Neither does a team being consistently elite, in today's NFL, for almost 15 straight years.

Whatever he does, has done, will continue to do.... works.

That my friend is the American dream for business owners. Major sporting event creates profits for small businesses.

not sure I want either team to win

I like Russell Wilson as a person. Brady's an all-time great.

Belichik is a douche, but so is Pete Carroll.

I'll cheer for a good game

Has anyone checked out Russell Wilson's 1st 3 years compared to Brady's... The kid doesn't get enough credit.

I think I'm going to take Seattle in this one. Russell is on a story book ascension. Bet Manning last year and now he has a chance to take out Brady.

Wow. Seattle opened at -3, and already got bet down to +2? Can't remember the last time Vegas has been that off on an opening line like that.

Did you watch that game Sunday?

He was given single coverage all day and did nothing, didn't even look like and NFL QB. If the Packers hadn't stupidly gone into a shell he would have ended up with one of the worst games in postseason history.

Credit to him for being clutch late, but Green Bay allowed him to get comfortable. He's not a great QB, certainly not a scrub, but on an average team he's nothing.

It was one bad game. And yeah, he probably wouldn't have done as much on a worse team - but the same could be said of Brady his first several years. At this point, Wilson has the 2nd highest career QB rating of any QB in history (Aaron Rodgers is #1), and has had a lot of outstanding playoff games (#5 in history in postseason rating and much higher than Brady). One game doesn't really change that success. Tom Brady has had his share of bad playoff games too.

That's not to say Seattle will win the Superbowl, but Sunday's game was the exception for him. It doesn't seem like the game to judge him by based on all his other success.

Wilson is what he is, a game manager with plus wheels. So long as he doesn't have to do very much, he's usually pretty good and he can occasionally do some damage as a RB. He's not a great QB, but the Seahawks have no intentions of winning with the passing game, they win with the running game and with their defense.

This SB is offense vs defense, and history shows that the best defense usually wins, bet on Seattle.

It was crazy for Seattle to open as the favorite. Pats are going to win convincingly.

Pats defense is underrated. Their offense will score on Seattle's D. They are clearly the better team.

    Wilson is better than Luck

    http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/p...ilson-and-tom-brady-had-similar-career-starts

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and New England Patriots QB Tom Brady have more in common than many people realize entering the Super-Bowl matchup between these two teams.

Wilson will become the youngest quarterback to start two Super Bowls, breaking the mark set by Brady, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Brady was 26 and 6 months in his second Super Bowl on Feb. 1, 2004. Wilson is 26 and 2 months for this Super Bowl.

Some people don’t see Wilson as the same franchise-type quarterback as Brady, but they have similar statistics in their careers for their first three seasons as starters. Brady did not become the New England starter until his second season.

Wilson actually has slightly better numbers Here’s how they compare:

Well that's fitting in that in those seasons Brady wasn't all that good and the Pats won their first SB because of defense, not offense exactly the same as Seattle. Some people forget, but Brady didn't even top 4000 yards till his 5th season as a starter and by then the defense wasn't what it used to be so there haven't been any SB wins since the season before that.

Maybe Russell Wilson will change from a game manager with wheels into a legit elite level QB but hopefully the Seattle defense won't fall off by then or the Seahawks SB days will be over.
