Copying this from the other thread since I didn't see this one...

I think it's a toss-up. I lean to the Colts slightly because the New Orleans defense - which thrives on big plays and turnovers, not consistent stops - is going to be hard-pressed to get a big mistake from Manning. But I'm not picking them yet, still thinking about it.

The thing is, the difference in competition the Saints and Colts have faced the last two weeks is night and day. The Colts played the bottom two seeds - No. 6 Baltimore, led by Joe Flacco and four turnovers, and No. 5 New York, a 9-7 team led by a rookie QB who they don't even trust to throw downfield with regularity.

Meanwhile, the Saints played Arizona - the defending NFC champs with Kurt Warner - and No. 2 seed Minnesota with Brett Favre, who to me looked like the best team in the NFL for a lot of this year. Indianapolis might have been more impressive than the Saints today, but the difference in competition was staggering. So I think anyone expecting a blowout is going to be surprised.

You do realize the Saints offense gets to touch the ball too, right?

The Colts have a huge edge in coaching. I was also very disappointed in Drew Brees against the Vikings. If he doesn't raise his game and play his best, the Saints don't have a chance.

I think Drew Brees is the key variable to the Super Bowl. If he plays great, I think the Saints will win.

Not expecting a blowout, but the Saints definitely lose a few points now being away from home in the outdoors.

Gut instinct says Peyton really wants this one, whereas the Saints seemed happy just to be there.

All the "who dat" and "katrina stories" still won't get me to root for the ****ing Colts.

Besides, Favre news will take over for the next two weeks.

It's destiny for Manning to get a 2nd one... He's going to end up with 3 like Brady.

This is why I'll be avoiding ESPN like the plague for the next two weeks.

Hopefully Sean Payton opens up the playbook. They played conservative against the Vikings. Should be a good game. Can a mod add a poll to the thread?

The Jets had a pretty powerful rushing attack and the best defense in the league...they came into the game as arguably the hottest team in the playoffs and beat the number 2 seeded Chargers who were probably the hottest team heading into the playoffs. I didn't think they were Super Bowl worthy, but they certainly weren't pushovers.

I think it's more a less a tossup. Manning may destroy the Saints, but it's not like Indy's defense if fear inducing these days. Both teams will have plenty of chances to score.

Plus, the Colts are proven winners and a veteran team...I hardly think the level of competition they've faced will have any effect on how they approach or play in this next game.

    Oh snap!

I copied and pasted my post from a different forum where I said the same thing (and started the thread). My bad.

No, but they were playing a damn good 12-4 Minnesota team with a Hall of Fame quarterback coming off the best season of his career. Meanwhile, the Colts were playing a 9-7 Jets team that backed into the playoffs with two charity games in the last two weeks and a rookie quarterback.

The Colts had better look a little better, given the circumstances.

I'm not saying the Jets were pushovers, but I don't think any reasonable fan would put them in the same class as the Vikings. There's only so much you can do when you can't reliably throw the ball down the field. And I'm not saying it's going to effect how the Colts approach or play. What I'm saying is that I feel like a lot of fans are picking "Colts in a laugher" based primarily on an aesthetic look at how each team played today, and it's just not a level comparison. Folks need to keep that in mind.

Ok... who had the better offense against a better defense? Colts weren't that great in the 2nd half... but they just opened up another 2 threats that the Saints will have to deal with. Garcon and Collier have more confidence now going into the Superbowl.. Clark and Wayne will get their normals now that they're going to play this ****ty Saints D.

Well if you want to go that route, the Saints played a worn out Cardinals defense that had been in an overtime shootout 6 days before and lost its best corner minutes into the game.
