    Super Bowl sets viewership record

NEW YORK — The Super Bowl was watched by more than 106 million people, surpassing the 1983 finale of “M-A-S-H” to become the most-watched program in television history.

The Nielsen Co. estimated Monday that 106.5 million people watched the New Orleans Saints upset the Indianapolis Colts. That beats the “M-A-S-H” finale, which had 105.97 million viewers in an era when there were fewer television sets.

Compelling story lines involving the city of New Orleans and its recovery from Hurricane Katrina and the quest for a second Super Bowl ring for Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning propelled the viewership.

The game also obliterated the previous record viewership for a Super Bowl — last year’s game between Arizona and Pittsburgh in which 98.7 million people watched.

I guess you don't rest starters, especially if they've been throwing picks (16) all year. Boo Colts, boo Saints, go Texans!

Wow, that was Mrs. Kendra who blew the onside kick recovery?

    Hilarious.

Watching the game with a very intoxicated gwatson86 was a lot of fun.

He was about 7 beers deep, then the Saints picked off the ball he went nuts.

He spiked empty beer bottles onto the ground outside, he lept up in the air and almost smacked his head on my ceiling. He literally humped my TV.

    He screamed YEAH MOTHER****ERS WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!

(Thank God my neighbors are cool people, and some of them are actually deaf people)

He started doing straight shots of Jameson (not a good idea 7 beers in)

When the Saints won he cried for a little while in amazed joy.

Then he sat there on the couch with a glazed-over look on his face for about 15 minutes.

Then he proceeded to go hug the porcelain throne for the next hour or so, and slept there for a good hour or three.

At midnight I asked him if he wanted to go to the couch and get off the bathroom floor, and he starts crawling to the couch but makes it only to the trash can where he then lurches the remaining contents of his stomach into my trash can, afterwards he fell over passed out right by the garbage can.

    Epic!

I saw that Houston was #50 out of 54 markets for Super Bowl ratings. How is that possible. Houston seems to be a big football city, adding the Cowboy/Titans fans to the mix.

Not to mention all of the NO transplants. It seems strange that Houston would be that low.

Im late but wanted to give my review:

-halftime was bad the audio wasnt synched with the video (at least for me)
    - the colts finally played with a great QB, and loss, even when the Colts won the running game (like the last playoff games).

    - Sean Payton amazing coach

    - Manning is not the best all time. Montana is, record Joe in SB: 4-0 record playoffs: 16-7 Manning SB: 1-1 playoffs: 9-9

Manning is the best in regular season, but when it counts: postseason, he is not that effective. like Marino he has all the records but doesnt play the same in the postseason.

why people votes after the game is over?, now the poll says more people voted for the saints, when on sunday before the game, the colts were winning for like 30+ votes.

    - and man, you outscore 31-7 the colts with manning, after they have a 10 point lead in the second quarter, thats a great job.

The 49ers won w/o joe. Indy would be luck to win 6 games without him
