what is this I keep hearing about certain media and advertisers that can't say the phrase "Super Bowl"? can somebody fill me in?
TIME FOR THE MUSICAL BATTLE!! Some Cardinals fans came up with their own Super Bowl fight song to counter the Steelers' infamous "Here we go!" song that's been around as long as I can remember. This new Arizona song is pure comedy: a bunch of white guys rapping with Matt Leinart jerseys and cheap rap lyrics. ENJOY!!
Geez, has there ever been a less interesting Super Bowl?? A less hyped Super Bowl? The only one I can think of is the Steelers/Seahawks game a few years back. Even on sports radio I don't hear them talking about this game that much compared to years past. I found this thread on page 4 of the Hangout 5 days before the game! And not to talk about the game...because what in the world would I even say about it?....but only to post this:
And NBC is charging a record 3 million $ per 30 second ad spot. We should probably have a dedicated thread for the the Super Bowl ads...might get more posts in that thread.
It's all relative. What are we supposed to do now, compare every future Super Bowl to SB XLII? Last year's SB was one for the ages, but I still don't think it's fair to use that as a barometer to gauge every future SB. Look back to just a year before that: who really cared about the Colts/Bears game? Was two black head coaches playing head-to-head REALLY that intriguing? Was that headline enough to convince non-NFL fans to watch? Raise your hand if Rex Grossman playing in a Super Bowl woke you up out of a coma. [ME!!!!!!!!!] What about SB XXXV -- Ratbirds/Giants. I fell asleep during that game. What were non-NFL fans supposed to care about....how another example of 'professional athlete does something really stupid yet magically gets out of trouble' was taking place? How that guy went on to win SB MVP after that snoozer of a game? At least this game features two SB winning QB's. Add to that how half of the Cardinals coaching staff was working for Pittsburgh two years ago. Fitzgerald's emergence. Harrison's emergence. This is a dynamic, interesting match up whether people want to admit it or not. I guess it's easy for the pundits to scoff and roll their eyes whenever their teams aren't good enough to make there.....or even come close. This game is much more interesting than SB XXXVII as well, under similar circumstances.
I'm not saying this won't be a great game. I actually am on record here saying I think it will. I'm merely saying I do not remember a super bowl game garnering less interest than this one in the week preceding the game. I don't have anything objective to back that up. Just my own perception.
I want the Cards to win, but I'm not sure they will...more for selfish reasons and don't really care...I'm only watching for the commercials...

Wow, according to an ESPN front page poll its 52-47% that think the Cardinals will win it. 39 states 'Red', 6 states 'Blue' -- yeah, I know that doesn't add up. Just saying it really seems people are starting to pick the Cards now. Kind of makes me feel good knowing everybody isn't pimping the Steelers anymore.
people are attracted to the underdog...people aren't being asked to lay money down...just click a button.
