I still think Harrison should have had it (the 100 yard return + drawing 3 holding penalties vs. Gandy), but I'm not upset about Holmes getting it, since he was consistently getting 3rd down conversions + the game winning TD.
Bingo. I don't have any complaints about the result — the Steelers are a fine team and deserving of being champions. But how in the world can you not take the time to review that and look at every possible angle for as long as possible. It's the final 10 seconds of the freakin' Super Bowl! I highly doubt it would have changed the result — it was a debatable call from the start, and even if it's overturned, you still need a hail mary. But how can you not be sure? Moreover, how can you completely take it out of the teams hands and not even give them the opportunity to demand a challenge? (Yes, I know the Cards were out of timeouts and couldn't have challenged even if rules allowed them to. But it's about the principle with that.) Great game — just a sad way to end it.
Ok. I just rewatched it again. two things... 1.) It was pretty obvious that it was a fumble. Warner's arm was still back when the ball was hit. 2.) Michaels said "They do indeed confirm it upstairs" So I don't understand the problem you all have with it.
Great game.....that INT Warner threw just before the half was a killer. Oh, and the Titans would have MURDERED both of those teams..... Too bad they can't hold onto the ball inside their opponents 10 yards line, not once, but thrice. DD
I respect that you don't think he is a HOFer, but I'm not sure this game should prove your case. Tough to say, though. He now has three highest passing games in super bowl history (based on yardage.) He did have a few turnovers, although he also rallied his team and put them in position to win in the 4th. Here's a thought- What if spygate cost him the second title when New England beat StL? To this day it sounds like Warner still thinks that the NE defense was suspiciously on to everything in that game. All in all, great game, and both teams deserved to win. Neither was flawless, but both played well enough to win at times. I had a hunch this week that the 4th would be wild and crazy like NE-Carolina, and it didn't disappoint. A safety, a 100 yd INT return for a TD, a double digit comeback, two up and coming wr's going over 100 yds, two qbs going for their second ring, and a thrilling 4th qtr. This game had it all, it seems.
You have no idea. Kerry Collins could have turned into a pumpkin in the AFC Championship game and the Titans could have been an easier match. After watching this game, for you to say the Eagles would have been a tougher match is nothing more than a wild guess based on nothing. #1 seeds lose quite often in the NFL playoffs. Nothing new there.
What a great game. Stars on both teams showed up. Warner and Fitzgerald made statements in the loss. I think Warner is a Hall-of-Fame quarterback after this performance.
SIXPACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, i'm not sober enough to give my complete reflection. All i'll say is GREAT GAME -- easily the best Super Bowl i've ever seen. I have to tip my hat to Cards for a great effort. At the end of the day you have probably two of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history (Harrison's record-setting pick-6 and, of course, Holmes' INCREDIBLE game winner). Big Ben is the deadliest clutch QB there is and...oh yeah, did I mention YOUR SIX TIME WORLD CHAMPION STEELERS??? P.S. Best of luck to whatever moron wants to play the "we got screwed" or "the officials decided the game" card. Don't expect to be taken seriously.
Yep, their defense would have eaten em both alive....especially their front 4...all they had to do was not fumble the ball inside the 10 yard line 3 times and they blow Baltimore out. The Steelers got the ring, but they are the 2nd best team behind the Titans.....no doubt about it. DD
Fumbles happen, it is part of the game, doesn't change the fact that they are better than the Steelers.... Have a nice day ! DD
