I want the Colts to win. Why? To further pump up our own HOUSTON TEXANS. To be able to come to camp in Spring and then July knowing you finished winning 3 of 4, including one victory over the eventual XLI champs could really be used as a motivator to achieving greatness. And then maybe Manning will go away... at least he can leave knowing he won a ring... But then again, maybe he'll pull a Favre and never retire.
The saints were a mini verison of the Colts and Bears will need to do the same things they did in the championship game to win. The Bears will pressure manning with thier front 4 and the D will create turnovers. The Bears running game is highly underrated as is Grossman's abilty to make plays when he needs to, see the drive after the saftey vs the saints. The Colts D was been playing way above their head. Bears will win. Bears 27 Colts 17
Excellent post! Saints are a mini version of the Colts - great QB, great RB (deuce not reggie ) good but not great defense. I think if they colts allow the running game and the the bears special teams do a nice job, (like the patriots did it in the return kicks) they will win. Rex Grossman for Super Bowl MVP!! j/k.
Peyton will have a Good Game no .. let me keep up what got them past the Pats PEYTON WILL CHOKE!! Rocket River
You never know, he has had equally spectacular games as he's had bad this season and lets not forget he only has 1 int during the playoffs
Manning threw his defense under the bus after the jags game. I have respect for his game and for his accomplishments, but I don't think he is the leader people say he is. I also think people aren't giving the bears enough credit. grossman, while being extremely inconsistent, has the ability make the big play downfield, and has a gun. when he's on, that offense clicks. and their running game has seemed to get better down the the stretch. if grossman doesn't play them out of the game, they will compete.
During the playoffs grossman has done a very good job of not turning the ball over, I think he's dead set on not being the cause of the Bears downfall. If the Bears get their running attack going, the Colts will be in trouble.
If it would come down to Rex versus Peyton, of course Indy would win. But Rex has a better oline, and better running game. Maybe they are not Marvin and Wayne, but Rex has explosive recievers too. And of course they are facing a much less physical, less intimidating, defense. I could see the Bears getting some physical run game going, and then Rex having wide open throwing lanes with lots of time with Indy having to play their run stop personelle and bringing safeties up. Chicago can score points. Chicago just has to not get blown out early (keep from having to pass when Indy knows they will pass) and they have a great chance to wear Indy down during the course of the game.
bump - less than 48 hrs til the big game here's techmo bowl colts/bears that i found pretty funny <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OsZUnJoGsNE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OsZUnJoGsNE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Is this the least-hyped game of any Super Bowl in the modern ESPN 24/7 full-tilt coverage era? Seriously, there is very little discussion about this game. Even here among sports fans. This thread went roughly 10 days before anyone had a comment about the game. On a sports-related message board.
On the contrary... I think its overkill to the max (as usual), but then there's the added element that the game is in Miami (ie - heaven, for sportswriters), so you've got specials on the nightlife in miami, you've got shaq doing a segment, you've got a miami vice montage, you've got people partying till 5am (and then telling/writing about it), you've got the miami vs. south beach articles, and you've got chirs berman with 300 "margaritaville" references whenever he sees a beach. So, maybe it appears to be less since the discussion about the game isn't as big of a chunk of the overall discussion as normal (how many stories can they come up with on Marvin Harrison, the Bears special teams, Rex Grossman's struggles, the Bears defense, black coaches, and of course, the 15 different stories about Peyton Manning), but I'm kinda tuning out all ESPN coverage in-general, so maybe I missed it. Also, its interesting that "message-board" sports fans are jumping up and down for the Bears like no 7 point underdog before (I think people are scarred from recent "defensive" teams ruining the line, like the Pats in 02, and the Bucs in 03). But, commentators/experts have already coronated the Colts (just like they all picked the Pats and Saints last week).
Which is weird because I'm actually more excited about this Super Bowl than any in recent memory. I think it has the elements to be a great game.
Well, in recent years, there was undoubtedly less hype about the hype due to Detroit, Jacksonville, and (unfortunately) Houston... people had to focus on the game because there was nothing else there to distract them. I agree with RM95... I'm more excited about this matchup than any other since probably Packers vs. Broncos.
I bet all the game with a co-worker and it was his turn to pick (he lost $100 the championship weekend) so I got stuck with the Colts -7 and Over 48.5. Now I'm pulling for Peyton in a big way.
are you arguing to argue?? i didn't state the reason. just stated that there's been very little talk of the game, itself. here on this message board or elsewhere. just my experience.
