    Super Bowl Linebacker Bruschi Suffers Mild Stroke

    TORONTO (Reuters) - Super Bowl champion New England Patriots (news) linebacker Tedy Bruschi (news) has suffered a mild stroke but could leave a Boston hospital as early as Friday.

    According to television reports Thursday, Bruschi, who played in the Pro Bowl in Hawaii at the weekend, was diagnosed with a mild stroke but was in good spirits.


    Earlier in the day, the Patriots confirmed that the 31-year-old had been admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital because of headaches.


    "After suffering from headaches earlier today, Tedy Bruschi was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston," the team's official Web Site said.


    "He is in good condition and will be held for further evaluations.


    "The Bruschi family appreciates everyone's concern, but requests that you respect their privacy at this time."


    The heart of the Patriots defense, Bruschi has played a key role in New England's three Super Bowl wins in the last four years, including a 24-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles (news) two weeks ago.

    Reports so far is he is doing well and doesn't appear so far to have any lingering effects. So far it doesn't appear that his carreer is over.
