Hahahahahaha.... If this statement were ever correct, the world would have ended about 100 times in the last several generations.
The only malfunction was that both her t*tties didn't pop out. My instinctive reaction was a Dave Chapelle-ish "Damn look at them t*tties!" ... but ya it was little much for free network TV.
TJ -- i'm not nearly as upset about the event as you are defensive about it. do you work for mtv?? you're right..i should be more of a critical thinker. again...if you have to be 17 to see it at a movie theater, it has no place on network TV during the most watched event of the year.
Jeeze, people. It was a desperate publicity stunt to "one up" the silly britney/madonna kiss (for J. Toiletlake) and a last gasp effort to try and save the dying career of an irrelevant washed up "artist" (J. Jackson). It was about as staged as a freakin' luner mission! The whole idea was to get people talking about it. Judging by the length of this thread, mission accomplished. I think the bigger issue here is that no one sang live all night long, although Kid Rock tried to sing. Even Beyonce and Aerosmith were lip syncing. Beyonce was going on and on about how this was her life dream...and then she gets up there any lip sync's the SSB? Give me a break...
Janet Jackson was screaming a few political words also during her performance. That was the only time I heard something that was not lip syncing.
I think the problem is with how the costume 'malfunctioned' he reached across and just ripped it off, it wasn't like girls gone wild or anything like that, he just basically ripped her clothes off. T_J, what would Bush say about this? Because I think his reaction might be different than yours. Maybe your not as big of a bobble head as you thought you were.
well, you know how it is with T_J....the only thing that can distract him from being a Bush puppet is bare t*tties.. maybe if the Dems would have strippers at their functions, TJ would switch sides....
I watch the Super Bowl for the football, it is the culmination of a year long obsession with the sport, hell I already have a mock draft ready. The halftime show and commercials are foisted on me but my wife that won't let me flip or even turn down the sound. I personally am not offended by nudity but I am offended by profanity, perversity and forced sex. What was provacative about Justin Timberlake's act was that it evokes an image of rape. And if you aren't offended by rape or you think the Super Bowl is a proper venue to express your artisitc vision of the sex act then you are probably in need of some therapy. I support Robert Maplethorpe's right to have a show in a Grenwich Village gallery but it would be wrong to plaster posters of his work around the Super Bowl. Freedom of choice also includes the choice to not be exposed. And no. there was no reasonable expectation that the Halftime show would include sadomasochistic images so I could choose to turn away.
The only reason lil kids would think ANYTHING is wrong with a bare tit is because of the way ADULTS react to it.
Strippers would go a long way towards closing the gap. Now if they then changed their stance on economic policy, fiscal policy, education, health care, racial discrimination, and energy policy, I'd be ready to switch over.
Okay, you think the show evoked images of rape, so don't tell ME, that I'm Okay with rape because of what went on in YOUR mind. If you thought of rape, then YOU are in need of therapy. And that's not to say I'm completely alright with the show.
Lighten up. My god, a three page thread about a split second of a boob for the freaking half tiime show.
Man, I hate the lip-sync'ing, but in defense of Beyonce, that wasn't her choice. In her case, it was done more to accommodate the string section that acompanied her than it was for her and because the people who run the Super Bowl are REALLY picky about the anthem performance. My violinist has friends in the orchestra and they told her that the Super Bowl folks said they don't like to risk malfunctions for the national anthem, which is why they always pre-record it.
I agree...It was a great game and decent halftime show...What's the big deal, it's a boob...We see more on regular TV and Cable...I agree it was in bad taste, but its not like she was butt azz naked (which would have been fine with me)...
It's not the boob, who gives a rats ass about a boob! It's the rape imagery. of ripping off a woman's clothing.
and now, to crank up the stupidity factor.. The FCC is preparing a full and swift investigation into this. great...another useless waste of money...wtg.
So you think that children should have no knowledge of sex until they're 18? You think an eight-year-old seeing a tit will definitely make them have sex when they're thirteen? Hate to break it to you, but if someone's going to have sex when they're thirteen, it's not going to be because they saw a tit on a Halftime show. As to the second part of your post, I'm not sure if you're serious or not. I wanted to throw a rock through the TV screen after the 367th anti-smoking ad. I think cigarette companies should be able to advertise their products on TV in reponse to these biased, idiotic statements. Hell, where are the anti-beer ads? Where are the anti-fried chicken ads? Both are much bigger killers than sweet tobaccy!
