Man, if there should be any doubt that the Steelers won off of some b.s. conspiracy or money ridden reason then it makes NO SENSE.

Say money > all ... then Paul allen= top 5 richest man in America= super bowl ring

like someone else said, if i was a seattle fan i'd be pissed off. i don't buy any conspiracy but i was commenting to my friend during the game that everytime seattle made a big play the refs would take it away from them. as an honestly unbiased viewer i think they got hosed.

I've watched thousands and thousands of football games in my lifetime and last night's game was the first game I could ever remember in which I saw someone make a tackle AND get called for blocking below the waist!!??

Like BigM, I am just glad that I am not a Seahawks fan. But my God did they get jobbed last night. And it is a shame because the game (despite its sloppiness at times) could have been like 21-20 or 24-21 and been one of the better Super Bowl games ever. Hopefully, those refs that called the game last night will never be allowed to call NFL games ever again.

That was quite possibly the worst call in the history of refereeing. Not to mention, Big Ben actually made a block below the waist later in the game, right in front of a ref. I'm not going as far to say that there was a conspiracy, but if you can't even acknowledge that there were some bad calls in very inopportune times for the Seahawks (the phantom holding and offensive pass interference), then you're just not being honest with yourself.

    Three things killed Seattle:

    1 3rd & 28. Steelers get 37 and a first a goal

    2 Parker's run

    3 Randal El's pass

Three humongous plays right there that shouldn't have happened, ESPECIALLY 1! If they stop any of these they probably win. The Steelers may have played the worst game of any Super Bowl winner ever.

The refs called a terrible game, no doubt, but there was no conspiracy.

Just like if the refs had not made the horrible pass interference and holding calls, they probably win.

I was really hoping for a good close ballgame like a score of 24-21 or 21-20 which is what the score COULD have been if the refs had decided not to get involved. I just don't understand why the majority of the playoffs had shaky to flat out bad officiating. Aren't these crews supposed to be the best according to their marks in the regular season?

The game wasn't rigged. But it sure makes the thought enter your mind when you see a game called this poorly...particularly where it seems to hurt one team far more than another. That creates perception...which ultimately shapes reality.

i don't think the game was rigged, but it was the worst officiated game i've seen in a LONG time. worst this season for sure.

everyone at the party i was at was in disbelief at some of the clearly missed calls (btw- crowd was nonpartial to either team)..... pass interference on the 1st td, phantom hold, hoss' chop block, ben's td, and some non calls on the steelers. should have been a closer game.

let's talk about ben's TD...i thought replay clearly showed he didn't get the ball in....that his shoulder went over, but not the ball.

    what did you guys see???

That game sucked balls. Very little entertainment. The league MVP didn't do much at all. The Seahawk tight end dropped damn near everything thrown to him. The lone feel good story of Bettis ended with him not doing much of anything in this game including getting stopped on a goal line run (where he usually excels at getting the TD). And on top of that, there was ****ty reffing. I don't believe there was any conspiracy to hand the game to the Steelers, but I definitely noticed that most of the really bad calls went against Seattle.

And the commercials really weren't all that good. Pretty disappointing.

At first glance, I thought no. But the replay I thought showed enough to keep with the call on the field.

I don't say it was "rigged".

I will say the officials called the game as if they had their money on the Steelers.

I don't know how Holmgren didn't suddenly develop---and subsequently burst---an aneurism for this game.

I had nothing on the game, no money, no interest whatsoever. The officiating was terrible. The "low block" on Matt Hasselbeck was one of the worst calls I've seen. My 2 sisters and fiance who don't care at all about the two teams nor football in general was asking me why they called a penalty on the "bald guy" when he was trying to tackle the guy with the ball. I had no response except a weak "the blocker's knees got in the way".

I think the ball grazed the white line.

Yeah but if you give Pitt that TD on that fake pass int call and take away Ben's "Hand of God" TD call, the Seahawks would come out on top, even with the 2 aforementioned plays.

i'm not gonna argue whether it was a TD or not b/c I think either call would be correct for that play. what i want to know is why the Ref didn't raise both his arms until Rothelisberger stretched his arm over the goal after being down? the Ref only had one hand up initially to signal he was down before the goal line. that's what irked me about the play.

Do you honestly think the game would have transpired the exact same way had those calls been reversed? Do you think that the Steelers would have been trying to run out the clock in the last 6 minutes if they were behind at the time? Don't you think that the entire game would have been different if the pass interference call was not called?

    Max,

The Roethlisberger TD was shaky at best. From what I saw, I don't think he got in. What made me mad was that Holmgren said as he was walking off the field during the half that the official upstairs said that Roethlisberger did not make it but the Levy zebra wouldn't change his call. Of course that made me wonder how he could get away with that. Maybe it was inconclusive but why didn't the upstairs official say that? I guess it was probably due more to Holmgren saying it out of frustration, but that sure looked fishy.

And has anybody seen a worse QB performance than the one that Roethlisberger had AND still be on the winning Super Bowl team? What was his passer rating again? 22.1 or something??
