I think the Suns know what they're doing. They have to be throwing all their chips in to make a play for Kobe. And that pick next season from the Bulls may reap some big dividends next season.
they better hope they get some impact players with that cap space, or else a couple more season of being in the dumpster and theyre sending lottery first rounders to the jazz(googs deal) and to the spurs(barbosa deal)
PHO does want Nash, but they aren't doing ALL of this just to bring him back. They have made it clear that they want Kobe, they've traded a countless number of high picks, traded Marbury, and have most likely dropped out of the T-Mac race for Kobe, not Nash.
I doubt the Suns' were serious competitors for McGrady. No way you trade away the essential piece to your offer while negotiations are still occuring, but maybe Phoenix management is just that stupid. In my opinion, the whole "7 teams are in the running (phoenix being the focus)" statement by Weisbord was just a ploy to try to drive up the price.
I kind of agree with blazer_ben, not so much hardball but try and pry another player away, a cheap player to round out our bench. I guess we're getting McGrady, Howard, Lue and I don't know about Gaines or not, but try and get DeClerq, that basically gives us a good 6-10 or 6-11 body to round out the back-up center spot for now, basically he would be an insurance policy.
Why Doesnt Housoton go After Hunter?.. his alot better then DeClerq, also his young hand has immense Potential. sure he had a few injuries, but his Upside is alot more then DeClerq!
You're probably right but it would be great to see the Lakers get owned pretty bad. No Shaq, no Kobe. And then Rudy T flips them the bird and turns them down too. In voice of Soup Nazi, 'No ring for you, Karla and Payton!' I can only dream.
you'd think the suns would learn from the failure of the Magic about the folley of putting all your franchise hopes on a free agent's decision.
I agree, its time to play hardball since Houston is the only team left. I say we keep Mobley and send theme someone else. Francis Taylor Cato Does that even work? I hope the rockets recongnize the postion there in and try to get a better deal.
From some news in chinese, the one Yao really want to keep is Cato. T-Mac should help and push deal. And we can keep Cato. It is good for Rox and Tmac himself. Hehe....
I heard this on another thread. Wouldn't mind getting a translation of his comments in full. If it isn't asking too much.
It's looking more official. The Arizona Republic is reporting it as well. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/0624sunstrade0624.html Suns trade first round pick Paul Coro The Arizona Republic Jun. 24, 2004 12:00 AM The Suns agreed today to send their No. 7 pick in Thursday's NBA draft to Chicago, apparently cutting off Tracy McGrady trade talks with Orlando. Phoenix will get the No. 31 pick in this year's draft, a conditional future first-round pick and $3 million from Chicago, according to people familiar to the transaction. Sending off the No. 7 pick creates more salary-cap space for the Suns when free agency opens July 1. Phoenix will now have about $16.3 million of flexibility. The 31st pick is the second choice of the second round, where draftees are not guaranteed contracts. The Suns did not have a second-round pick otherwise because they had traded their own to acquire Donnell Harvey. Phoenix will get what should be a high first-round pick unless Chicago makes a huge leap from last season's 23-59 flop. The pick is protected for the first two years. For the 2005 draft, the Bulls would keep it if it is in the top three of the draft. For the 2006 draft, the Bulls would keep it only if it were the No. 1 selection. The cash replaces what the Suns paid Charlotte to entice the Bobcats to take Jahidi White's salary off their hands in Tuesday's expansion draft. Today's trade does not entirely rule out a deal for McGrady, but it makes it unlikely.
The was a report suggesting Hunter had ADD because he had the inability to grasp complex defensive schemes, thus making him useless to JVG.
Hey, I'm not saying you guys are wrong at all... in fact you're probably right... but I've been off the board for awhile (in other words, one day ), so could someone please explain to me what has indicated to us so soundly that Indiana is out of the running?
