Hedo a PF? that is funny. But then I have been reading the past two weeks how Warrick and Channing will be replacing Amare at PF. Bottom line, I've been beetching about Amare being too soft and now I have three guys who combined are as soft as a dozen milk soaked twinkies. But consideing our options at this point, I am okay with this move. At least Steve will be surrounded by two more players who have high basketball IQs and can make shots. Warrick is an unknown, the rookies or younger players have much still to prove, but by adding Childress with Hedo to go along with Grant, Dudley, Dragic and the other vets, I'm feeling better about our chances AS LONG AS Hedo and Childress haven't lost much with their aging talent. Hedo in Toronto was lost time. Last productive contributions by him were in Orlando and that is a long time ago for a 31 year old aging NBA vet. I hope his skills are not too diminished. Regarding Childress, I liked this guy right out of college. I always wished this guy would be wearing a Suns jersey, athletic, smart, makes shots, and plays with good effort. Let's see if we can get them signed and get egos checked at the door and see if some chemistry can be built by not having to deal with some of the prima donna behavior distractions that are no longer on the roster. Alvin and the vet leaders will need to bring the cohesion together fast.
Who said a team can't win and be fun at the same time? I think the Suns will be just as good or better next season than they were this year. Even if not as good, they'll be in the playoffs and will exciting to follow. Of course these are not the kind of moves a team makes if it is being blown up. The Suns will still be very good. The Suns still want to go after an NBA title. They are gonna be the 2nd funnest team to watch in the nba and still can make it to the West Finals easily. Turk will have an amazing season in Phx if Nash stays healthy. He is exactly the type of player that can once again stretch the court when Frye is not on the court or simply disappears for a few games. I like the Childress signing too. might not be as explosive as used to be, but I think the suns might actually be deeper. There won't be a true superstar available next offseason and with the lockout looming, the Suns are better off making moves now.
Barbosa's gone while both Chill & Hedo can cover 2 guard. Dudley's undersized but he can slot over to PF. Suns might be throwing in the towel on Earl Clark's future prospects. Iv'e never been impressed with Warrick. Always seemed like a 10th/11th in the rotation to me. I think Lawal will eventually get ahead of him in their rotation. Nash, Dragic J-Rich, Childress Hill, Hedo, Clark, Griffin Frye, Dudley, Warrick Lopez, Lawal, Jones
Yeah, he's not important as a player. He's non-guaranteed salary filler that will probably get waived.
I don't give the Suns a chance to make the WCFs next season unless they make another big move. IMO, their chances of winning 54 games next season are close to zero. They will be fun to watch and will have some ferocious blowouts against weak, undermanned teams. But their ceiling isn't high. The upper echelon teams will clobber them. If you look at this in the context of it being difficult for them to improve next season, these two moves make some sense. Turkey-Glue is the key. If he shows up out of shape and doesn't play motivated every night, he will be a millstone that will drag the Suns down. You also have to consider his age. Hopefully he will give them a couple of good years. worzel gummidge, looking at the lineup you posted, they might be one of the worst defensive teams ever. They will continue their habit of blowing big leads.
True. Just a tiny filler to make the trade work. But there is a small chance he might stick in TOR. Last time I checked the only guy who can grab a board on that team was Amir Johnson. So maybe they could do with a tough C
In that case, then would have made more sense to have kept Childress for themselves. After all, if you go all in to contend, you skimp out on one of the final finishing touches? Thats like baking the cake and not putting icing on it, you aren't going to win the party over. Its actually quite funny, when you look at this years CRAZY frenzied free agency, Joe Johnson came out of all this with the biggest contract. By far.
So to clarify, this is a dumb move *particularly* because *you* don't know what the owner's financial plan is?
OMG the Raptors got soo lucky someone was willing to take turkoglu! He is so done and the Raps are so happy he is gone.
Hedo last year was completely unmotivated and in a system that didn't suit him, if anyone can turn his career back on track, it's Nash. Hedo's contract is horrible, I'll mention that, but did anyone honestly think they were going to attract a big name free agent? Just look at CP3 and Melo already talking about teaming with Howard in a few years, no way would they all agree to play in Phoenix (even if we had room). I like that Sarver is actually making moves this offseason and not just standing pat. Warrick, Childress, and Hedo should all have career years in their system. it wasnt likely they would make the WCF last year, but the moves they have made this year more than offsets the loss of Amare. Not to mention further improvements thats going to be made by Lopez and Dragic and Dudley etc etc. I think they are a legit contender.
Yeah haha. Raptors boards all over the net are exploding in delirium. They probably gonna host a big street party to celebrate this. Oh and they got another new international player on their teamnow haha. thats gotta be a plus
hedo giving up 6 million just to get out of toronto? Wow he must really hate playing there. raptors fans are going to party harder than madrid tonight.
Soooo what exactly are the Raptors plans this season? Start over lol. Lose Bosh, now Hedo. This is what screws teams financially imo, when they trade/lose their better players in return for nothing. Their fans won't really agree with this. Too soon after losing Bosh, even if they are losing a bad contract. Great deal for Childress however. Welcome back to the NBA.
