It's time for the four stars of Draft class of 1998 to hang it up Vince Carter Antawn Jamaison Brad Miller Rashard Lewis Looking at that draft class, I'm really surprised at the longevity of Pierce and Dirk. I've been a Carter fan since he was drafted. He was amazing when he was with the raps. He would've been even greater if it wasn't for the decline in athleticism due to injuries. Still a great career though, he was very consistent in his days with the Nets, even though he never took that team very far in the playoffs. I thought he was done after the Orlando Boston series last year. I felt bad that a lot of people laid the blame on him, I believe he truly played hard, it's just he was just too old to have the burden of an entire offense put on him when Howard was getting shutdown by Perkins and Garnett manhandling Shard. His decline was very apparent in Pheonix. He was demoted to a bench player because of his shooting slump and reluctance to drive. Sure he will explode for 30 points once in a blue moon, but he has become very inefficient overall. I don't think he will keep up with the Bulls defensive system with those old legs. Thibs defense requires a lot of hustling and running from side to side that Carter's body just can't handle anymore. I think he should just call it a career and always be remembered as THE BEST DUNKER IN NBA HISTORY inb4 Jordan was better
[rquoter]Vince Carter isn't a free agent yet, but sources close to the situation say the eight-time All-Star will be thrust onto the open market shortly after the end of the lockout. Based on an amendment in his contract obtained by ESPN.com, Carter must be waived by the Phoenix Suns within 72 hours of the official start of free agency or his $18 million salary for the 2011-12 season becomes fully guaranteed. The Suns, sources said, have already decided to waive Carter within that window. The Suns and Carter amended the contract in June to delay the guaranteed-salary date in Carter's final contract year until after the lockout ended. Waiving Carter inside the first 72 hours after the league's schedule start of free agency Friday means that Phoenix would only have to pay $4 million to Carter and likely ensure that the Suns avoid luxury-tax territory this season even after trying to complete the re-signing of Grant Hill and moves with other potential free agents. The Suns' plan, sources said, is to bring back Hill if possible and make a playoff run this season, then proceed to the summer of 2012 armed with salary-cap space to make major upgrades to the roster. ... Chicago, Miami and San Antonio are expected to be among the teams interested in signing Carter, 34, once he clears waivers and becomes an unrestricted free agent.[/rquoter]
The Bulls will talk but if I were Chicago GM I'd choose Tracy instead of him because of Tracy's playmaking skills.
Bulls don't need a guy to take it out of Roses hand. They just need a guy who will knock down his shots.
Not neccesarily true. If your the Bulls coaching staff, you want the ball in Rose's hands as much as possible, and want to sign a wing who can knock down open shots and play lockdown defense. Neighter Vince nor Tracy are first choice for Tom Thibs, but Vince would be a much better fit next to Rose.
I'll ask the same question: How will VC react when Ron Adams and/or Thibs blow him up coming off the court after playing defense like a sissy? Even as an 8th/9th man, the Bulls' hard-core coaching staff demands hard-core effort on both ends of the floor each and every game. I don't think VC likes to get yelled out. It might hurt his feelings.
Bulls are gonna sign Jason Richardson. He's a RFA, but the Orlando Magic are very likely gonna let him walk.
He's more or less completely washed up at this point (Suns fans hated him), and we already have a better SG. Why do we want him at all?

ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Updating one more story from earlier: Bulls linked with lots of 2s/3s but I'm told they'd be quite eager to have a crack at Vince Carter
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein But as @KCJHoop reports, Bulls' wish list alsoincludes J-Rich, Caron Butler, RFA Nick Young, Josh Howard & Jamal Crawford. Interesting names
