Suns have a team now! Dallas will suffer. You watch. That team's core was Nash, Dirk and Fin. They just needed some D and they were on their way. Oh well...
Oh, hell, you're right. They just have Voshkul and Cabarkapa (sp?)! Clark is a free agent and has all sorts of off-the-court problems, so he won't be back. Boy, that's worse than I thought.
Yep. Just like the Suns missed Starburry. They hurt the following year just like Dallas will. Unless they get Shaq. Heh...
The new Suns is not any better than the one before Marbury trade. They might be able to be in the race for the 8th spot, but nothing else. But what this trade did is that Dallas just got a lot weaker.
In your face Jeff, Phoenix is reportedly about to make a strong offer to Okur! Now tell me THAT doesn't strike fear in your heart? Man, I don't know if that's a good deal at all for Phoenix. And now Dallas fans are spinning this, saying that they just improved defensively without Nash. Yeah, marginally. Now their offense, court vision, direction and leadership will be drastically changed. Phoenix just hamstrung themselves financially and Dallas just dropped down a few notches. Dallas was already slipping this year.
Nash was on his way out, one way or the other, whether as a FA or in a sign and trade with LAL for Shaq. Cuban said the other day that he really likes Daniels, and I'm sure that's part of why they drafted Harris. Actually, I disagree with most of you guys on this. I believe Dallas will be just fine. They have lots of trading chits they can re-arrange to be a top West team. They can still get Shaq, too. But LAL would never have taken Nash with a 5 year and partial 6th season at his age. It'll take Dirk for sure now, if they want Shaq. It could still be Shaq/Walker/Finley/Stackhouse/Daniels, which is very strong, and still send a package to LAL of Nowitski/Harris/Laettner/Fortson. But, LAL will probably try to talk Shaq into staying or going out East, if there's a comparable package. Shaq will want to prove they made a mistake, so I doubt they'd want to face him. PHO is going to be a playoff team too, IMHO. Nash is very good. If they pick up Okur, and use him at center, they'll be tough. Okur/Stoudamire/Marion/Johnson/Nash. I don't see the weakness. Young maybe. Marion already has his max contract, so they aren't losing him. Johnson is a real up and comer. He really torched us. Nash is like the old guy on the team, and they can use his veteran savvy. They will only get better each year, with their youth. I think we will beat them, but this is a great move on their part. They did what it took. Expensive. But in terms of the total picture, a perfect fit, which is more valuable than the player he is.
C- Okur PF- Stoudamire SF- Marion SG- Johnson PG- Nash That would be a solid starting five for certain, but that team would require a whole lot of depth to go anywhere. It really does look a lot like a poor mans mavericks. They'll be fun to watch. and i forgot to mention, I don't think these moves are nearly enough to catch them up with us, but I think Dallas losing Nash does hurt them. So all around, I'm very pleased.
C- No Clue PF-Stoudamire SF-Marion SG- Kobe PG- Nash 1-4 thats a scary ass lineup if Kobe decides to sign in Phoenix.
Well, could that mean the Dallas will be after Fisher now? I mean they do need a veteran PG now. And Fisher will not be as expensive as Nash.
It also means Dallas can't possibly put a deal good enough to land Shaq now w/o Dirk involved. I don't see Dirk being traded for Shaq simply because of the youth difference.
I don't know for sure what the salary situation is in Dallas, but I'm going to guess they probably still wouldn't have the money. At least I can't imagine them having the money with Cuban's willingness to accept big contracts. But who knows?
