Ah Cuban... On the Rockets making inquiries on Dirk in the trade market: “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ He asked if we’d trade Dirk. At first I thought it was taunting, but now knowing more about Daryl I don’t think it was in hindsight. That’s just not his style. It says a lot about their approach more than anything else. They just have a different understanding and approach to chemistry than we do. Some teams, and that’s not just the Rockets, just put together talent and the talent takes care of itself. We think chemistry matters. When Carmelo came to visit us, there was no chance that we were going to put him in someone else’s jersey number and put it on the outside of the arena. That’s not our style.”

Well, teams want no part of his contract. At his age. With 3 brutal years left on his contract after this one. If he doesn't want to be on a ****ty team, maybe he should have picked a team that's not so clueless about competing that they offered a 32 year old C with 15 years experience: 4 years and $52m. Good teams don't really make decisions like that. If his contract was a bit shorter, I like his game. But the way it is right now, I think he'll be a Sun for a while.

So he left the Mavs after winning a championship for the Knicks only to get back with the Mavs for one year...then left again to get more money ...only to want back with the Mavs?
Dude is smart. He realizes every time he plays for Mavs, his value increases. He then cashed out disregarding royalty, and for some reason Mavs still want him again and again.
So is hes remaining contract 3 years @ 39 Million? Hes declined so much.. He used to be a very serviceable Center-
In both cases his departure was at least a mutual decision if not more the Mavs pushing him out. Did he want money? Sure, of course, and part of that push by the Mavs, in both cases, was not wanting to pay him what he'd obviously get elsewhere... as evidenced by the fact that he got it elsewhere. But it was also about Cuban just really having no clue what he wants to do... Well, he played as well for the Knicks the first couple of years as he did for the Mavs. And was great again for the Mavs 2 years ago. Last year was his first real down year. Even still, he was relatively productive. It's just his contract, and the current state of the Rockets, that make him a non-starter with this team. But could he play the role Deke played for Yao on some other squad today? Absolutely. Like he'd be great in Minnesota.
Without Dwight, he can actually be our starter with Capela off bench, and maybe eventually move to Deke's role once Capela is more ready. Really depends on D'Antoni.
He didn't want to leave Mavs let him go cuz Cubes was chasing the triple D. Well tbh if I was Cubes I wouldn't bother with TC I'd rather pay DH 20M than give 12M to this dude he's done.
Well that's why the tweeted rumor is saying Mavs would entertain it only if Chandler's contract was bought out.
33 year old Chandler - 4 yrs @ 52 ...new cap/scarcity of big men..could have gotten more...pretty wild.
