Damn this thread sucks. I really, really miss Gogi, and its extrememly unlikely that the Rockets will reacquire him while Lin is in town. I understood the shift change when it happened last Summer, but the Harden trade changed everything, and life would be much/much better with Dragic still in town.

Simply "disarray" would have been better.

No player options in new contracts is a Rockets policy which pre-dates Morey. It doesn't stop the Rockets from trading for a player with one.

E.g, CD couldn't give Mike James a player option in his last year. So James signed with the Wolves who had no problem with it. This didn't stop Morey from trading for James and his very same contract they would not give in the first place.

Buy low, sell high. The Rockets could try to get Laker's unprotected 1st pick. The Lakers being who they are, it's a high probability the pick falls short of being in the lottery?

That is a real dick move by the GM who brought Hunter in and therefore comprises his decision-making. Turner & Majerle are right for leaving!

I remember watching the 1995 playoff series vs. the Suns and begging for Majerle to keep shooting. :) "Keep throwing it up there, Thunder Dan!!"

    Anywho.

That was a dispute over a "trade kicker" - not a player option, IIRC.

I thought the Mike James issue was the trade kicker? (Which made trading for him that much funnier.)

The Suns' biggest problem was always that they're best guys didn't defend (outside of Marion). I don't blame their players, it was the coaches that allowed them to believe that it was acceptable. There have been guys much slower than Nash that play decent defense but his coaches always gave him a pass and I honestly think that's the biggest reason he doesn't have a ring. If you look at the stars that have led their team to championships in recent history, none of them were that bad defensively. Kobe and Dirk are the worst (although both significantly better than Nash/Amare) and their teams were loaded with defensive talent.

Weren't the D'antoni's Suns always ranked middle of the line defensively despite popular belief? Stoudemire used to be a decent shotblocker back then I believe.

2-0 under Lind-sanity. Wins over the Kings and Clippers.

Dead coach bounce. Teams tend to play better for a while after a coach gets fired.

Wait till Hunter gets to put in his offensive sets, like McHale did after theRockets went 2-0 to start the season.
