I'm assuming it's cause Linsey Hunter is planning on supplanting him with Markeiff Morris as the back up Center which would cut into his PT that much more. They're trying to play Michael Beasley at the 4 a little more and O'Neal's minutes will be cut that much more is what he's probably thinking. Ah well, your a back up for a reason anyway. So WGAF.
Man, I would sell the farm for Dragic and Gortat. They could have Lin, Morris, and Jones, plus I'd take Beasley off their hands. PG: Dragic/Beverley SG: Harden/Delfino SF: Parsons/Beasley PF: Gortat/Motiejunas C: Asik/Smith
Does Dragic's player option go away, or automatically exercise, or something if traded? If not, why would DM want him now all of a sudden? I get that Lin is underperforming, but I thought to DM it was as much about future cap flexiblity as anything... something you theoretically don't blow on a Dragic type player.
The Rockets are sending their players to infiltrate other organisations and blow them up. Lowry to the Raptors, Dragic and Scola to the Suns. Now we need to send some agents to infiltrate some more organisations in the West and send them into disarray as well, and the crown will soon be ours!
Anyone know the backstory? i.e. why did they go with Lindsey Hunter over Elston Turner and Dan Majerle? Seemed like Elston was next in line and Majerle is Mister Phoenix Sun.
Fellow Rockets fans, especially those who despise Les Alexander the most, just be glad Sarver doesn't own our team. The Suns have crumbled under his ownership. It's sad.
I think the team went for the younger Lin because they believe Lin has the higher upside (and is, of course, younger both in age and NBA experience), which is important to a rebuilding team. The plan was primarily to place a bunch of bets on unproven young guys (including Lin, Asik, Jones, Motiejunas, etc.) with upside and hope that one or more of them pan out. Things change with Harden's arrival. Harden is a proven elite performer and can drive the team into contender status when paired with another proven Allstar level player. If you can manage to snag that 2nd star, or at least retain the cap flexibility/assets to do so, you may want to look for experienced players, like Goran Dragic, who are ready to fit next to Harden right now as opposed to young prospects with some (small or large) hope of acheiving Allstar level performance.
I always believed if Colangelo had held onto that team for five more years, Nash would have won a ring in Phoenix.
Yeah, plus he doesn't fix the problems we already have with lin. Dragic plays with the ball in his hands, isn't a great shooter...he's decent, better then lin but not a great shooter and not worth the commotion of trading lin.
My only real complain about Les Alexander is that he seems to have bad break-ups with his head coaches, having strangely accused both JVG and Adelman of not returning his calls (a charge which both coaches denied, as far as I know). I mean, what kind of head coaches just decide to blow off the team owner? Makes no sense. As far as front office moves go, you can argue for or against the "no tanking" strategy, but it's kind of worked out, but you can't say that this guy isn't trying to win or isn't spending resources on winning (buying picks, taking on salary for assets, etc.-- he's avoided the luxury tax for the most part but hasn't done so in a fashion substantially detrimental to winning). Sarver is a whole other animal. It's one thing to be cheap, it's another to pinch penny in a stupid fashion. Remember, the Suns once traded away the 7th overall pick in a draft in order to save salary? Who does that? That pick turned out to be Luol Deng by the way. He also traded away multiple other first round draft picks in salary dump efforts (these picks turned out to be Rondo, Ibaka and David Lee, IIRC). Draft picks, when used correctly are the best way to get good talent for cheap.
