Your reading comprehension skills are obviously impaired as well as your basketball knowledge. First of all I said move Gortat to the 4 NOT Omer. Gortat is far from being a spot up shooter but he has more of a jump shot then Asik. Second, please provide the reports that Gortat was b****ing about playing behind Dwight while they played in Orlando. He was disappointed when they matched the offer because he wanted to play more minutes, which is understandable when you're playing behind the best center in the league. Third, the Magic traded away Gortat cause they're idiots and thought bringing back Turkey Glue would help them reach the Finals again. Obviously their management team did not do their jobs of building a championship team around Dwight so he jumped ship... and once he was traded all they received were a sack of nickels and marbles. Gortat would be far from being my first choice as our future PF but he'd bring more to the table than Patterson and Morris do at this time.
I assume Phoenix gave him the player option? Otherwise I'd happily to a straight trade - Lin for Goran.
Paul Coro: Alvin Gentry gets paid, escapes the season's misery & knows Mike D'Antoni, one of his best friends, wants him on next season's Lakers staff.
if you noticed, i corrected myself a line below, but your reading comprehension is a lil too high to look at the post below i guess. click on the link below, actually u can google up some more links http://www.interbasket.net/news/5792/2009/12/marcin-gortat-unhappy-in-orlando-magic-role/ Gortat is not a pf, quit suggesting we move him to pf
Alvin Gentry is trending on Twitter, there's some hilarious tweets. Here's 2: @NOTSportsCenter: #Suns fire Alvin Gentry for going 13-28 with a team led by Goran Dragic & Marcin Gortat. Clearly they should be 41-0 with those superstars. @AminESPN: Suns let go of Alvin Gentry...a man who happily made lemonade out of the disease infested lemons handed to him. Ridiculous move
Okay that first sentence made no sense or maybe that was a compliment, so in that case thank you for that. Yes, I acknowledged that he wanted to play more minutes and not be behind the best center in the league but who would, when you're a starting caliber guy. That doesn't mean he b****ed his way out of Orlando the way Dwight did. If you have the skill set to play a position why wouldn't you? Kobe is far from being a SF or PG but so far he's played those 2 roles this year. You act like no one in the league has EVER played out of position or slid over from being a center to being a power forward and vice versa. KG is another example of that.
u claimed i couldn't comprehend what you wrote. i made a typo and corrected myself with another post which u failed to see. Gortat does not have the skill set to be a pf. Cousins can play c and pf, kg can too, duncan too, al horford, varejao etc but Gortat is a c, and does not have the skill set to play pf. He barely has enough skill set to be a c
Why can't they just say he was fired? We all know it was not mutual. Not really though. I think Dragic would ruin our cap flexibility. It was either Lin or Dragic and Les chose Lin. The Suns don't have any players that the Rockets already have. They are like the Eastern Conference version of the Rockets.
The only reason Gortat said no was because Houston offered them a contract way below the mid-level he was expecting. It was at the time when Morey was still a rookie GM and thought nickle-and-diming low level players to cut corners was a good idea, I remember Landry's agent was crying about how ridiculously low ball the Rox offered them in FA. Anyway Gortat had no say in the matter because he was a restricted free agent. Even when he and Dallas agreed on a contract Orlando matched and he had to play there. As far as trading for Gortat goes, depends on how much we give up for him but I think he's good value for his contract, it's hard to find a center as well rounded as him who isn't making over 10M these days. Having both Omer and Gortat on the team isn't a big problem, just keep the better one and trade the other guy...maybe as a package for LMA/Love. Problem fixed.
Because when someone gets fired they still wanted the job. We don't know if Gentry was fed up as well and would have quit anyway. Dragic was indeed let go because he would ruin cap flexibility. However Les didn't choose Lin over Dragic, they didn't even know NY would not match on his contract. DM was prepared to have TD as the starter, Lin was a nice bonus that happened. ??? Suns are in the West, and considering they have Scola and Gortat they're not exactly the youngest team in the league.
