Mediocre-to-bad trade for the Suns. Can't go back to the run-and-gun when you've already traded for Shaq. Shaq's ego will not allow him to be an also-ran on this team, and J-Rich does not operate as well in a half-court offense (these have been his struggles with the B-Cats). I don't know- I guess if they alternate between run-and-gun and half-court, they could make it work. I just don't see it.

Their bench is extremely thin now and they're a Shaq injury away from a zero bench (mark my words, Shaq WILL miss games at some point).

Amare, Marion, Joe Johnson, Nash, and Q-Richardson. That was the team. Without Johnson's injury, I really feel they would have made it to the Finals. They shoulda done everything in their power to keep that team together (guess Johnson was dead-set on leaving, so who knows?).

But I wouldn't give up 2 quality bench players for a OK-to-very good starter. Ah, maybe Bell is on his way down, who knows? Maybe Diaw was a 1-year fluke? Still, the Suns are not going anywhere.

    Yeah, but could you imagine...

    Amare
    Marion
    Richardson
    Barbosa
    Nash

    Could have been WAY better!

Wow, what a steal. Thats really not fair for Bobcats fans.

Why the **** would they do this.

Bell - Worthless (under 10 ppg)
    Diaw - Alright

    Richardson- flat out scorer

First of all Barbosa is not a starter and never has been......

JRich would be the SG with either Grant Hill or Matt Barnes at the SF......

    Why not?
I think Boris may be perfect for Emeka and the Bobs...........

This could open things up for DJ and Gerald as well............

Not really, he was still playing good D and was shooting an insane 46.8% 3PT. Bell and Diaw were both solid players but neither had the ability to be explosive in a half court setting. Biggest plus Richardson brings is his transition game and ability to create his own shot. He can come off screens and knock down jumpers in a half court setting, but his shot selection will always be a question mark.

Phoenix has been making desperation trades for the past year now, and I don't see any real direction with what they are trying to do. Just not as dangerous without the ability to outrun teams and 3 deadly perimeter shooters on the court at all times.

First of all - I was meaning it would be a fun lineup - not STARTING lineup...meaning, when Barbosa came off the bench, I'm sure they could try something like that to see how it would work...

Second of all, if you say "first of all" you need a second of all...

Third of all, "never has been" wouldn't be referring to the last half of 2003, would it?

I am too tired to argue, Who do you think won the trade?

I kinda like it for both I think, Suns needed to shake something up and they got a GREAT 3-pt shooter for Shaq......
And I think Boris fits the Bobs perfectly down low...........

I think the Suns won, it's just a shame they have that slug Shaq slowing them down.

Diaw and Bell will be solid contributors, but they won't be the same as they were with Phoenix. It's good though, I think Diaw deserves a few more minutes.

jrich is overrated. I like bell and diaw more. Now the suns literally have no bench at all outside of barbosa.

Good move by the Suns. J-Rich is a lights-out shooter and scorer. His contract may be a bit hard to swallow but they had little use for Diaw anyway. J-Rich isn't a bad defender plus they have Alando Tucker on the bench for defensive purposes to help absorb Bell's departure.

The funny part is I was one of the few people back in 2005 actually saying the Suns needed to step up & pay Joe Johnson. Not trying make this into some "I told ya so!" type of thing but this J-Rich move is basically an concession by the Suns that they royally screwed that call up. Only J-Rich is barely half the player Joe Johnson is. All the same, still a good move my Phoenix.

Interesting trade, Richardson is definitely and upgrade for the Suns. But what about their bench now?

They got Jared Dudley in the trade too - Oh, and they also picked up the Bobcats 2010 second round draft pick.

    Suns completely owned them.

    Nash
    Richardson
    Barnes
    Stoudemire
    O'Neal

    backed up by
    Dragic
    Barbosa
    Hill
    Dudley
    Lopez

that's not a terrible bench - plus Amundson has actually been getting playing time so far this season.

    Salary dump for the Bobcats?

Just remembered that the Suns are playing @ the Lakers tonight.

I would postulate that they are screwed.

I just checked the numbers - the Bobcats freed up $7million for 2010 - but they're looking at around $40million committed in that year anyway... so it's not a salary clearing move

So unless they're planning a New York Knicks style clean-out and are planning on shipping out Okafur and Wallace soon then I have no idea what they're doing with this!

They were cheap and decided not to resign Johnson, he was a restricted FA at the time.
